We need to get an actual ML outfielder - preferably one who can hit - in here ASAP.
Hopefully DS is working that phone line trying to bring some reinforcements in… could use an arm or two as well but that’s every contender.
The sky isn’t falling it’s just not up there quite as high anymore….

But they're only .04 ahead in runs per game. And I thought we shouldn't be comparing our offense to AL teams...

I know you’re just being an agitator with that comment but I’ll respond anyway for the benefit of readers who don’t know what the heck you’re talking about.

When it comes to evaluating playoff prospects I like to compare the Brewers to NL playoff contenders because that is the direct competition.

When the Brewers are playing an AL team it makes sense to compare them to that team.

For whatever reason (worse hitters, better pitchers, more pitcher friendly parks) scoring in the AL is about .2 RPG lower than in the NL. So, the Twins are third in the AL in scoring whereas the Brewers are 6th in the NL.

For devotees of the advanced stats, the OPS+ would seem to indicate that the Twins offense is significantly better than the Brewers. They have both more significantly above average hitters and no black holes.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Oh, I agree that the Twins offense is better than the Brewers. But it appears to me (and might to others who have been frequenting the offensive thread) that you're doing a lot of picking and choosing in your arguments.

Weirdly, rain coming. Have they delayed yet? Raining at my house, which means it should start raining at TF in a few minutes.

Wouldn't be the worst thing to have to take Alexander out after 1-2 times through the order....

I’m just using the measure that others have used after I was told that looking at runs per game was a terrible way to measure an offense, and to compare the Twins to the Brewers using a measure that others have used to make the point the Brewers offense isn’t so bad because of the number of hitters the Brewers have who are at or slightly above league average.

It wasn’t meant as an “argument” but just pointing out some facts. But, if you think you have never cherry picked stats to make a point you are kidding yourself.

I really hate that we could have had Burnes pitch today and they decided to push him back which costs another start this week.

is being available for the All star game really more important?

Two outs 0-2 and you're not going to give Alexander a chance to finish the inning?

I mean the guy swung at a pitch that would have hit him more than likely because he couldn’t see crap

This rain is like what happened here last night. It came quickly, rained like crazy for about 15 minutes, and then moved out.

Insane they took this long to put game under delay

They must have really thought it wouldn’t last long

True. I'm just not a fan of stopping mid-inning when our pitcher seems to have found the strike zone after experiencing some early difficulties.

I thought I heard or read somewhere that Burnes opted out of the AS game.
