It’s amazing how two teams can be awful while literally leading 1/3rd of baseball.

Some of us are old enough to remember when a team had to be better than top third in baseball to be a playoff contender.

Some of the Brewer teams in the Molitor/Yount era won over 90 games when half of the teams in MLB weren’t tanking and didn’t come close to making the postseason. Lowering the standards for entry doesn’t make the last teams in any better.

“Bad” is the wrong word but “mediocre” certainly fits. And the fact that they are in first place by a half game despite playing under .500 ball for the last two months doesn’t make them better.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

The whole "they are still in first place" argument is just lazy.  This team is not good and haven't been outside of one stretch early in the season.

So they were good for 53 games (33-20 through June 2nd), went on an 8 game skid, and have been a little better than mediocre in 32 games since (17-15 since June 12th). Seems like a lot of semantics at play, but this is not a "bad" team and their largest stretch of play, projections/expectations, current standing, and ability to add at the deadline seem to indicate, while not a World Series favorite, this is in fact a "good" team. I personally enjoy this team immensely compared to what we endured for the most part in the 90's and 2000's. It's okay to enjoy a good, not great team that has a very high likelihood of making the playoffs and hoping they catch lightning in a bottle.

The only way I can reconcile that call at third is if they couldn’t say for certain that Urias didn’t brush the runner’s hand as he tried to tag him in the chest.

Oh wait, two World Series.

Stop with past nonsense.

This team when there is a guy on second nobody out can't even hit a ball to second base. It is mind-numbing. Guys like Robin Yount have to be rolling over in their graves watching these dudes.

I disagree that this team is good and never said they were bad. Mediocre is what I would call them and mediocre is not what the expectation should be. Assuming that whatever marginal moves they make at the deadline is going to be enough to push them to "good" is just that, an assumption. The "this is the best stretch of Brewer baseball" argument is becoming equally tired.  They've been mediocre to good for a few years now.  At some point the expectations have to be raised.

Robin Yount is quite alive.

I thought the SF series would be the last games lasting until midnight for awhile.

Taylor may not be on the roster post-deadline.  Whether another team takes him for a warm body in exchange for a productive outfielder or he's simply DFA'd, a .275 OBP doesn't pass.  If a 4th/5th outfielder role is needed, Davis is the better defender and is having some success at getting on base in the 9 hole.

At least Taylor has some power.   Compared to Davis.

Taylor is the best player this team has drafted and developed since Braun so there is that.....

So with Yelich's walk, we've got 3 chances to put the ball in play. Let's see how that goes.

I don't know how to feel about Yelich still being the most feared hitter in this lineup.
