Lazard's skillset is definitely pretty redundant to what Corey Davis does, so I wonder if Davis (on a reworked contract) could possibly be part of the return coming back for Rodgers? Wouldn't mind taking a flyer on Denzel Mims too. Elijah Moore's name has been thrown around as well.

I'm prepared for this to drop at any minute, and I know it's going to, but IDK, I still find it all pretty sad. I wish he'd gotten a proper send off. I'm sure that'll happen six years from now at a nice ceremony, but this dude gave so much to the Packers and performed at such a high level for such a prolonged period of time...as a fan, it just sucks to see soooo many fans trashing the guy on his way out the door.

I get that people have their irritations with him lately (I think almost entirely misconstrued but w/e), it's just bizarre in some ways watching the guy get trashed relentlessly while so much worse conduct has been largely ignored over my lifetime as a fan.

It’s not 1939 anymore, pro sports are a “what have you done for me lately” business.

Rodgers is 39 and wasn’t a difference maker for the Packers last year, that’s why they’re moving on. With his play last year being okay but far below his standard he already has ceded his leverage to force the Packers to employ his friends.

Further, Rodgers’ quirks are probably not outside the norm from other fantastically rich 30 something’s from Southern California. They just get amplified by the media to create drama and generate clicks.

Yeah I mean I don't think I need it explained to me why they are moving on. I just think it's kind of a bummer the best player in the most storied franchise's history is going out so whimper-like. To quote Josh Sitton, "Everybody gets dumped in this business.

To each their own then. I’d encourage you to buck up,  in the industry of pro sports where you judged by winning and losing nobody is jeopardizing their job over sentimentally.

Rodgers isn’t dumb either, he likely knew when he signed his extension that the moment the team faltered on the field the Packers would move on at QB, which also means he likely has already prepared himself For this situation despite what is written about him.

I'm not sure why you're suggesting I think he should still be our QB, lol. Like, I think they should trade him. I also think it's a lame ending. Like, it would have been less lame even if they'd gone 4-13 and we went into the last game knowing he was done. Give him a standing O, lots of fan fare, etc. He'll get all that stuff after he retires, but the last game being what it was feels extremely anti-climactic. It was also just strange feeling like it went from 20% odds he left to about 99% a week after the season. I know I thought he'd be back for one more after that game, but a week later I thought he was out.

I guess I don’t understand your grousing about how it ended, it’s not really a surprise to anyone, virtually no one in pro sports rides off into the sunset.

You can't at all understand why I think it sucks that a 4-time MVP who was winning those awards as recently as two seasons ago, arguably (likely) the best player to EVER wear our uniform...is leaving after losing a home game to the Detroit Lions in an 8-9 season that began with SB expectations...with a good chunk of fans cheering his exit and blaming him for a holding up a trade he probably has nothing to do with?

I'm pretty sure there's a middleground between sunset and this.

I think it's reasonable to be sad about Rodgers leaving while also understanding it's part of pro sports.

Also, Rodgers is from northern California.

So the holdup is potentially a 4-time MVP quarterback wanting to make sure the Jets sign a great run blocking WR to a free agent contract before he is good with getting traded there, too?  I mean, I get wanting some familiarity around you in the huddle, but honestly is Rodgers wants "his guys" with him, he should have latched on to better guys.

This has been the odd dichotomy of the past two years, really, when the grumbling started from Rodgers' camp- he wants his guys, and often seems to ignore that those guys aren't the players they used to be. I can't forget that press conference where he rattled off the long list of veteran players that he was upset the Packers didn't retain that had gone off to do nothing with their next franchise and faded into the sunset.

If moving Rodgers to another team keeps the team from feeling obligated to resign 'his' aging guys to unwise contracts, all the better for Green Bay.

Hysterical. I hope they sign Cobb too and Wilson has 9 catches through week 5. Lazard probably would be their 2nd best WR though.

Most amusing part of this is, anyone who's read Gunslinger can recall the passage about how the roster began to divide between Rodgers Guys and Favre Guys. Guess what one of the criteria was? "Favre had 'his guys'. Rodgers just threw the ball."

Sure I remember Randy Wright playing QB for the Packers and how low the bar was set prior to Favre taking over. So in a way I agree the devil you know (Rodgers) is better than the one you don’t.

I disagree that, other than a small minority, fans a cheering Rodgers potentially leaving.

Reality is it’s just time. Even with Rodgers nobody is going to say the Packers are a contender even in the NFC based on their current talent level and he’s going to be 40 by the time it gets cold again.

Practically nobody remembers Reggie White’s last game at home, Chad Clifton’s, Driver’s etc. Victory laps don’t happen much in pro sports and don’t really matter in terms of legacy anyhow.

Everybody remembers Brett Favre's. Let's not pretend Chad Clifton or Reggie's White second stop is even remotely close to Aaron Rodgers.

But whatever. I'm not sure why you keep explaining to me it's time to move on. I've said that multiple times since February. It can still be a bit of a bummer; those two things can co-exist.

What? Favre getting knocked out cold against the Bears up in Minnesota and never playing again, or tossing a pick to single handedly lose a Championship game at home?

Be bummed out I guess, but this is how it nearly always ends.

Yeah...I said that you remember Favre's - which you do - and was pointing out that Chad Clifton isn't a comp. I didn't say it was fantastic. Thanks for explaining "how it ends" for the 15th time. Such a bizarre hill you're dying on here. I'm sorry I wish Rodgers had a better exit, I guess.

I know my 12 year old dog is going to die some day but it's still going to be a sad day when he does.

Not bizarre, everyone dies eventually.

This talk about Lazard and Cobb to the Jets leads me to believe Rodgers isn't hemming and hawing...he's negotiating.

Yea this all but confirms that Rodgers will be a Jet sometime this week.

I wouldnt mind Corey Davis back in the deal.

I don't know anything about Davis, but I would like Elijah Moore. The Jets were down on him last year. He'd be a nice fit for the slot. Of course, he'd be a nice slot receiver for the Jets - so who knows. I really liked him coming out of college two years ago. I guess it comes down to what the team thinks of him going forward.

Ok, well at least that's anecdotal, you had some good times watching Rodgers play for the Packers and are sad those times are, seemingly, over.

I watched a lot of episodes of Letterman and was bummed after watching his final show, but less than a week later I was over it, I'm sure it will be the same for you.

The Jets are basically going to run back the 2022 Packers offense, but with a worse Oline, worse RB pair, and worse play caller
