I see this sentiment a lot.  Those lost Pirates, Reds and Cubs games are replaced with the likes of Tigers, Royals, Rangers and Athletics among others.

If the schedule is tougher it will be because the American League East could be solid top to bottom.  The rest of the divisions are pretty much a wash.

I don’t expect it to be a big difference in the W-L record, but relative to the rest of the NL teams that they’ll be competing with for playoff spots, the Brewers are losing games against a worse group of teams than the teams in the NL West and (especially) East. The schedules will be more equitable now.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

With ST now officially in the rearview mirror and OD on Thursday, I figured it's time to create another predictions thread. So, time for "official" preseason predictions per the following categories:

MVP: Corbin Burnes

CY Young: Corbin Burnes

Rookie of the Year: Sal Frelick

BA Leader: Sal Frelick (.294), may not qualify, but this is a pretty safe pick imo

HR Leader: Rowdy Tellez (37)

ERA Leader: Corbin Burnes (2.47)

SO Leader: Corbin Burnes (252)

WAR Leader: Corbin Burnes (6.7)

Breakout(s): Luis Urias, Abner Uribe, Freddy Peralta (healthy, 30 starts, top 10 CY)

Disappointment(s): Eric Lauer, Matt Bush, Garrett Mitchell

Bold Prediction (s): Chourio debuts in August and plants himself at the top of the order during the stretch run.

Record: 90-72

Playoffs? Yes, Wild Card. Lose WS in 5 to SEA (FINALLY the team that "gets hot")

So, I'm very close to getting the regular season record right. Missed on the WC part because I, like most everyone else, was in a Cards trance preseason (though I was rightly skeptical of their pitching and Goldschmidt/Arenado repeating career seasons in their mid 30s).

Aced disappointments with Lauer, Bush, and Mitchell (I accurately didn't expect him to stay healthy).

Also did very well with breakout predictions, hitting on Uribe and Peralta (made 30 starts and could very easily finish top 10 in Cy Voting, though his last start didn't do him any favors). Whiffed on Urias.

Rowdy tricked me into thinking he was a good player. And I should have known better with Chourio given this front office is not as aggressive with upper level prospect promotions, not to mention being extremely judicious w/ 40 man spots and starting service time clocks.

Other than correctly predicting that Winker would be a failure, my predictions were pretty awful. Although I still think Woodruff would have outperformed Burnes if he would have been healthy the whole year. At least I had us in a playoff spot (behind the Cards LOL). The bullpen has been much better than I expected, I underestimated our ability to cobble together some serviceable arms behind Williams.

Yeah. Same with the Cards. We all fell under their devil magic spell.

I'm 100% convinced that Yadi made the last 4 Cards managers look like geniuses. It's tough to admit that because I don't like the guy, but their pitching results speak for themselves.

Unfortunately, it's only a matter of time until Marmol gets axed and Yadi replaces him.

Bump. Fun to look back.

Some people did very well. Some people did not so well.

Kinda crazy how many people nailed the record right on the nose.
