American Family Field's scoreboard will be upgraded for the 2024 season − a major project to be paid for by the Milwaukee Brewers ballpark's publicly financed owner.

The Southeast Wisconsin Professional Baseball Park District will spend $6.45 million to replace the ballpark's main scoreboard, which is nearing the end of its 10-year life, according to Tim Sheehy, district board president.

The new scoreboard will be the fourth-largest in Major League Baseball, he said, with double the size of the current scoreboard's video display board.

I actually like the current scoreboard but understand these things only have a certain life. Can't even imagine it being twice the current size.

Yeah and it seems like they just got it.  I realize time flies, and these things are on a schedule.  It made me wonder what they do with the old one.  Just demo/scrap, or is there a market for used scoreboards...

Well they put the one from County Stadium out by the highway for a while.

I wonder if they forgot to get one of those tags like you need for a mattress or refrigerator for garbage pickup.

It sure seems like they go through these awfully fast

The Brewers replaced the original scoreboard in 2011.  This will be the second scoreboard update.  It looks like the lifespan for this is about 10-years.  Which seems about right for the size of these things.  This would be the equivalent of you changing your TV every 10 years or so.  I still have my TV from 2008 but it is on its death bed.

How about putting some secondary scoreboards in places where the seats can't see the main scoreboard?  I see the idea of a "secondary scoreboard" is not going to happen.  Put a few smaller 8K displays on each side of the scoreboard to show at a 90 degree angle.

It would be nice to have something like Cincinnati has, but that is behind every seat in the stadium.  Am Fam does not have that luxury.
