Without an off day until Next Monday, the key pieces in the pen being a little taxed, the outing from Houser was just what the doctor ordered.

I’ve been calling him El Monje…because that’s who lives in a Monasterio.

Or if your Spanish pronunciations ("el MON-hay"?) are as dodgy as mine, just try "The Monk."

In the marathon that is an MLB season, the baseball gods sometimes do some funny, under-the-radar stuff to even things out. Maybe this series, with a number of AAAA types playing prominent roles in wins, is partial payback for the ridiculous injury situation over the first 60 games.

Seriously though, I advocated for Houser to join the pen if/when the rotation gets back to full strength. Obviously that won't happen if he throws the sinker & mixes in his secondary stuff as effectively as he did today. Boy That was fun to watch.

I'd take Matt McLain in a heartbeat. Very impressive hitter.

I am confident, or at least hopeful, that he does not have a concussion. A shot to the nose can be very painful, but it seemed like something of a glancing blow that wouldn’t cause a concussion. But, a shot like that can also make your eyes water, and as the first hitter coming up, he wouldn’t be ready that quickly.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Five games over and a win today makes the Sounds blown game in the 9th a bit easier to swallow. Adames had a dub and a solo shot in his High-A rehab start. Urias had 3rbi and a dub today in a 2-for-4 outing.

And if you go back another month or so, Mitchell out for (probably) the season for trying to avoid a tag.

The Matt Wise/ salad tongs curse.🤢

Wasn't Urias's injury a head first slide into 1B?  Stupid almost no matter what...

Yes it was. Also Frelick hurt his thumb sliding into a base as well (happened the same night as the Mitchell injury)
