Now available after being DFA'd.  One of the best relievers in baseball last year.  Will probably turn his season around once he gets as far away from Toronto as possible.

Just no. He's a complete douchebag.

He's a good pitcher who shouldn't be punished for having a different political view than you but in todays world I guess you have to tow the line or face the consequences which is quite sad.

He's a 35 year old who has had one good season in his career. Your consistency with who is good/bad continues to be horribly inconsistent. Ruf = washed/nobody wants him. Bass = good pitcher who we definitely need! It's almost embarrassing at this point.

Clearly I was wrong about Ruf and he was probably going to hit like Prince Fielder before getting injured.

Hatred and intolerance of people that are seen as "other" than yourself isn't a political view. Trying to categorize it as political in an attempt to deflect criticism is nearly just as bad.

Bass did nothing wrong and I am going to leave it at that.

Bass had to know he was bringing a ton of negative publicity to the Jays organization and himself, yet he made the post and later on doubled down on what he said. He has the right to say what he wants, but he has to face the consequences of being an idiot. You don't call a certain group of people, who happen to be different than what you prefer, evil and demonic. Then apologize to those folks and the organization, then later come back and say you stood by the post and didn't think it was hateful. Now add he was terrible this year (4.68 FIP - 1.40 WHIP - 11 BBs in only 20 IPs) and Bass should easily understand why he was DFA'd.  I can't see any team wanting the bad publicity that comes with Bass.

Given that the Brewers employ Matt Bush, they seem to be an organization that worries about if their pitchers can get outs and not much past that, as they should.  They need bullpen help and should claim him or attmpt to work out a deal.

As long as he get guys out that all that matter

no his point of view which is still free

His potential employers are also free to not hire him because of his viewpoints. It's not a free speech issue.

By all accounts, Matt Bush has been a decent person going on 8 years.

Ask the guy whose head he ran over drunk driving without a license, wonder if he thinks he’s a decent person.

Yeah see Matt Bush actually did something very wrong in his life and did serve his time in prison for it.

You simply can't compare what Matt Bush has done with Anthony Bass.

One actually committed a crime that was punishable with a prison sentence, the other has an opinion on something that some don't agree with.

BTW, the Bass situation IS political.  In today's world, if someone says something that others don't agree with, it automatically becomes political based on the ridiculous need to make EVERYTHING Political.

I'm just trying to make an apples to apples comparison. I don't think the Bush trade is one. KRod might be a better example. No, not saying what KRod and Bass did is equally bad but the timing of the thing they did compared to the timing of signing them to a contract.

I get the point of trying to find a way to make a comparison, but I'd stray away from any sort of comparison between relievers whose actions wound up directly killing a person and physically assaulting people to a guy who put out a pair of ill-received posts on twitter (one of them being sharing a video he didn't himself create).

To me a better comparison tweetwise would be Josh Hader - since Hader is better at being a relief pitcher than Bass, his inflammatory tweets from years gone by are an afterthought.  Bass' tweet history is much more fresh .  Because of that and because he hasn't pitched well this season, he was shown the door.  I mean, I doubt the Dodgers are considering DFA-ing Kershaw for his recent public statements about the invite/disinvite/invite fiasco going on with their pride festivities.  And this also reminds me of the John Rocker experience.
