Ready for the Jackson Chourio era. Although, who knows what this current hitter development staff will do to him.

A valid point. I've seen enough young hitters around baseball come up for their first taste, and not dominate right away but at least look "ready', in the sense that they put up competitive ABs pretty much right away. Our friends in St. Louis seem to be able to accomplish that. Contrast that with Garrett Mitchell, who has all the speed in the world to disrupt a defense but with his swing-and-miss rate & propensity to chase may as well run like Vogelbach.

Not really. Performing at the last two years makes us clear favorites in this division...

So, is it the manager’s fault that the players aren’t performing.?

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

When everyone's underperforming or blowing up simultaneously, you could certainly make a case that the manager/coaching bears some of the blame.

I don't think Chourio should sniff the bigs for at least another year. He's a teenager and we have no reason to rush him right now.

Keep him at Biloxi all of '23, start him in Nashville in '24 and if things go well he comes up next summer.

Last season it was necessary for everyone to pout & hang their heads for a week after Josh Hader was removed. I never thought Mike Brosseau being sent down would have such an effect on this team.

That made me chuckle.

Well done.

He just had a 4-6 HR 2 doubles 4RBI night. Chourio should not spend the entire season at AA. I'd give him another 20-30games there and promote him to AAA. Comes with him continuing to show small improvements at AA level.

If only the team had Frelick to replace Mitchell. The largest batting issue is who we're using at DH. Yelich there with the core of Rookie OFs would solve a lot of the batting problems.

There have been a ton of injuries, and most of our bounce-back candidates didn't bounce back. And we aren't that great at relatively full health (maybe a 89 win team).
I'm a little surprised the record is as good as it is.

They're 34-33 with a -23 run differential, eventually the luck runs out a bit and they start to lose some of the close games that could go either way.

Saying that everyone is underperforming or blowing up simultaneously is a gross exaggeration.

First, despite last night’s game, the team’s biggest problem is the offense, which has not really had an excessive number of impactful injuries. The big underperformers there are Adames and Tellez, but pretty much everyone else is doing about what should have been expected considering inexperience or injuries from previous seasons (see Winker).

I don’t believe that a lot more at bats from Urias, Mitchell, or Frelick would have made a significant difference. Urias’ injury likely opened up more ABs for Miller, who has been one of the team’s best hitters. I seem to recall some posters saying before he was hurt that Mitchell should be sent down because of his high strikeout rate. And who knows what Frelick will do in his first shot in the big leagues.

The risk that this offense would be bad was pretty high, and I don’t think Counsell is to blame for that. Blame the hitting coaches if you want, but they haven’t been given a lot to work with.

Wow @Brock Beauchamp between the Twins' and Brewers' offense your eyes have to be pretty sore.

I checked out of the game at 5-3 and... what the hell happened last night? The Twins scored runs after the sixth inning? They scored more than five runs? And Yelich went into beast mode?

Is this 2019?

The resistible force succumbed to the moveable object.

The fact that Yelich has been a productive hitter since the end of April (OPS .880) has been largely overlooked. Maybe not 2019 good, but still very good.

Yeah, that’s not really fair to Yeli. He’s been quite good this season.

very late to this thread, but I think the Twins had something on Devin's changeup. Not long before this game, they had something on Gausman's splitter. Their scouting team must really do their due diligence on getting tips from the elite pitches of pitchers.
