Immediately expendable - Tapia, Winker & Mejia

TBD (hopefully soon) - Tellez, Urius, & Hiura

We need to add some new pieces to what is an overall solid team

Tyrone Taylor’s bat & defense should help us once he is back on the big league roster which should be after the break

It will be interesting to see what happens with these other players

A bat (ideally one who can cover 1B) & a bullpen arm coupled with the return of a few players from the IL may be enough to win the dreadful NL Central

Both Winker and Tapia have been pretty abysmal. If Frelick hadn't performed so poorly since his return from injury would think he would get the callup over Tapia but hasn't been able to get going. Taylor pretty much guaranteed a spot after the break. Not totally opposed to replacing one of those with Alex Jackson so Contreras/Caratini can both catch/DH more often without fear of having no catcher. Maybe if they are lucky they can find next year's backup as well.

Rowdy may also be back mid-month, right? So Taylor and Tellez will likely bump two players from MLB roster just after the All-Star break.

I hope Tellez returns & catches fire like Yelich & Adames have recently

If upon his return it is more of the same … I’d love for the Brewers to release Tellez & trade for a better bat to play 1B later this month at the deadline

Taylor almost certainly replaces Tapia or Perkins. Him and Winker, despite being outfielders, serve completely different purposes to the team. Winker, if replaced, will be replaced by Tellez or Hiura or an external DH/1b type.

I think Rowdy and Winker are going to be on fairly short leashes and are candidates for replacement at the deadline depending who else is available. I think the Brewers need to add 2 bats, ideally a CF and then a 1b/DH type. If not a CF, a RF would be fine. Defensively it would be quite valuable to move Wiemer to RF in favor of a plus defender in CF which would really solidify the defense. As much as we need offense, the true strength of this team is run prevention...any winning we do beyond sept 30 will be largely due to run prevention.

Also worth noting, it was really great when Miller was a demon at the plate in May. He's been quite mediocre, maybe below mediocre, since May and should not be considered an everyday top of the order hitter anymore. I would be very surprised if he had another 3-4 week stretch of 300+ hitting this season. That addition of bats will hopefully lead to Miller starting maybe twice a week and finding specific PH spots for him against lefties.

I think you'd help out offense more by leaving Wiemer where his D is bringing positive value and find an RFer that can hit.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

Agreed, it will be hard for anybody to overtake Weimer in CF, this year or in the future. RF has been a problem all season, just doesn't stand out because of 1B/DH.

If Mitchell could stay healthy, I'd take him in CF.  Not sure who has better D, but Mitchell has been better at the plate so far.  And if Chourio reaches his potential, he is another potential to move him off CF.

He is also young and athletic now, but with his body size, he doesn't seem to have the body type to stay in CF.

I think in the end Wiemer and Mitchell become platoon mates with Wiemer getting some games against RHP.

I can easily think of 5 - maybe 6 -players on the current 26-man roster who could go away & I would celebrate: Winker, Tellez, Tapia, Perkins, & Mejia for sure

I don’t recall a recent team with this many weak, bottom of the roster players

I’d rather see Jahmai Jones, Keston Hiura, Abraham Toro OR a few trade acquisitions on the team in place of any of the above players

In time - Tyler Black & Sal Frelick too

I also wonder if Urias will ever figure things out - if so, he could also be an improvement
