Put me in the camp that none of the bats moved at the deadline will be both good enough and have enough team control remaining to require anyone in our top nine or so prospects.

Even Lara and EBJ at 10/11 would be a tough pill to swallow for the kind of bats I believe are likely to be dealt.

If anybody from the current BF Top 20 gets moved I’d hope it’s Moore or Jarvis,  they’re probably the highest ranked position player and pitcher I’d be willing to give up personally.

My guess is Black and Chourio get promoted to AAA after the deadline lining them up to start impacting the MLB club sometime in 2024.

I think the plan for Chourio is to finish out the season in AA.  It was extremely aggressive putting him at AA to start the year.  I think he stays there for the whole year and the Brewers will assess if he should be in AA or AAA to start next year.  Now Black I could definitely see getting to AAA after the deadline and I wouldn't be surprised if Black is starting the year with the Brewers and skipping AAA completely next year.

I could see Chourio going to AAA as prep for possibly making the OD roster next year. Brewers would get the comp pick if he wins ROY.

I hope you are right on all you wrote

I love our top 10 prospects more than anyone we might acquire via trade

After seeing the Braves offense five times in the last 10 days - there is no need to go “all in” & unload those talented young players

keep in mind for the ROY eligibility its 60 days or less. So starting August 2nd if a player has no service days before that they can be eligible next year.

That's pretty harsh after the month of July he just had to keep him in AA the remainder of the season and suggest assessing whether to promote to AAA next season or start him at AA again. How's that work for all the other Brewer prospects who fight to reach a 750 OPS seeing somebody rip off a 1.165 OPS for a month and be kept down for the remainder of the season while being the #1 prospect for the team?

With Urias trade Black is definitely getting promoted to AAA the next chance they get. He had over a 1.0 OPS in June and 941 OPS in July. 2 months in a row batting better at AA than what he did previously in his career.

Assessing if he should be in AA or AAA next year would mostly be the decision of if they want him to be playing in the cold or would they rather see him develop in a warmer climate in Biloxi.   I think this is why they put him in AA than in A+ where he barely played to start the year this year.  Something similar maybe behind that for Chourio.  Also AAA isn't really all that big of a step up from AA.

The biggest jump in the minors is going from A to AA.  I wouldn't be surprised if Chourio starts on opening day for the Brewers either.  I still think the plan is for Chourio to finish out the year in AA.

I said this earlier in the thread but it wouldn’t surprise me if they have Black following a similar trajectory as Mitchell did last year. Mitchell was promoted to AAA in early August and then to Milwaukee a few weeks later. Could we see the same for Black?

Black/Monasterio platoon at 3B should be the way to go moving forward imo.

I could see Black being one of the September call ups. Him and Frelick’s on-base prowess would be fun to watch. He’s struggled a little bit the past few weeks but I see him being on the same trajectory as Mitchell was last year (Mitchell was promoted to AAA in early August and to Milwaukee a few weeks later).

Now that the AAA season is over, how about we DFA Anderson and call up Black. Give him a few starts to give some guys a rest (once we clinch) and let him get his feet wet. Black started out slow in AAA but had a terrific September.

Yeah, Black was in a slump in AA at the time of his promotion, but he worked his way out of it. 1308 OPS in September, plus he adds baserunning and defensive versatility.

There's no good reason to not promote him.

I hope he proves me wrong but looking at some video Black has the same massive front foot lift that Huira, Adames, and Urias have/had.

He is going to get speed changed to death.
