Looks like @Jim French Stepstool and @Playing Catch joined you putting him at the end of the top ten and there were a couple elevens too.

The plate discipline (63 BB vs 71 K in 322 career PA) and wheels (33 SB vs 8 CS career) are shades of Tyler Black in a larger body.

Obviously still young for his league and the 142 wRC+ is excellent, but the thing holding him back for me personally are the inconsistent batted ball results this year.

I ended up putting him at #18, but I’ve got everyone from #12 onward in pretty much the same tier so I can see the case for having him higher.

I get that. There are things to be concerned about there, like the pop up issue and the less than ideal line drive rate, and I did have him in a tier that went down to 16. It just feels like he has ended up a bit under the radar for someone putting up thus far, offensively at least, the best first full season for a Brewers high school pick in at least 15 years.

The line drives are coming - and they've been coming mostly in recent outings. He leads the Mudcats in HR (tied with Avina), R, RBI, and SB. Beyond the bat - which is getting better and will, imho, hopefully only get better - there's his ridiculous athletic profile. Serious serious athleticism in his crazy body. He moves gracefully but with power. He is agile. Contrary to where they play him, he's the best 1B on the Mudcats roster. He gets a little overconfident and wild with his throwing mechanics at 3B but he absolutely has the arm and the range to continue making a go of it.

Anyhow, he's just an extremely tantalizing prospect for many reasons. The age is definitely one of those. @Smichaelis9liked him and likes him for a reason. I've been seeing those reasons all season long. I attribute his contact issues earlier to '...it's a baseball season'. AND, I personally believe the questions should come about what they will do moving forward with his leg kick. Is that sustainable? It's pretty over-pronounced.

Yeah, I think that's about right.

Chourio - gold star, blue chip, all that

Quero, Misiorowski - ascendant, could be great

Black, Frelick - good solid prospects, could go either way

A bunch of guys

I personally leave Frelick alone in that tier by himself. I've seen too much ridiculously good stuff from Black to consider him anything other than ascendant. I know there are ongoing concerns about his position. BUT, I will say (and I said it tonight in the report) he is actually improving at 3B. He has the arm already and the accuracy is improving. He is starting to make difficult plays look less effort-driven. He is gaining experience. I propose (also in the report) they are leaving him in Biloxi to keep giving him everyday reps at the hot corner whereas the infield is drowning in veteran depth at Nashville. AND, the fall back is Black plays an average 2B. With his bat-to-ball skills (ridiculoussss), increasing power, and base running.

If the fall back for Misiorowski is we have a transcendent relief arm, my fall back for Black is we have a transcendent DH who swipes 40 bases, hits 20-30 long balls, hits for average, and takes walks.

Just because it is a thing that interests me, while none were incredibly close, Henderson, Zamora and Mendez were next.

Players with one vote included, I think, Cornielle, Birchard, Jimenez and Severino.

I’d go with Prado as best not to receive a vote, but there are certainly other good candidates for that title, too.

The one guy on the list I’m not seeing it for is Robert Moore.

Not incredibly young for his level (-1.2 years), bad SB vs CS (14 to 10), only a 105 wRC+. Probably more of a 2B than SS. Guess the plate discipline is okay at 10.3 BB% to 16.8 K%?

I had Zamora over him because even with his struggles he’s still more viable at SS, and also performing better (113 wRC+, 13 SB vs 3 CS) at a higher level.

Also had Dylan O’Rae and Filippo Di Turi over Moore at the end of the list because even with their limitations and higher volatility as guys still in complex ball there is at least a little more to dream on there.

Zamora is also 3 and a half years older than Moore. Moore got off to a slow start this season but has a 116 wRC+ since May 1st and a 123 wRC+ since June 1st.

Moore definitely has the edge as far as age relative to league, but average age is 1.5 years older between the Southern & Midwest leagues and Zamora missed some time as a 2020 draftee and then with injury after only 24 G last year so that eats into some of the raw age difference.

I guess for me if two guys are around the same FV tier, and neither is an offensive juggernaut, give me the AA SS over the A+ 2B.

Per the concerns for Adams, Fangraphs nailed it with part of their assessment. Paraphrasing, they state that he's a stiff lower-body athlete with an unconventional swing, but a good "sleeper bat". That's dead-on. I'd make him do yoga all off-season and start smoothing out the swing.

Keith Law loves him some Brewers……only Misiorowski conspicuous by his absence

https://theathletic.com/4703833/2023/07/21/mlb-top-prospects-2023-minor-leaguers/

Law has never been a big believer in Misiorowski. He thinks he's going to be a RP and that he only has 2 pitches. He's definitely the industry low on Misiorowski but also is the industry high on Quero and Black. Law in general seems to like players with a strong floor even if the ceiling isn't that high over some of the more volatile guys with crazy high ceilings.

Figured I would post here. Gasser just made Baseball America’s top 100 with Elly De La Cruz graduating.

Nice of Elly to give a Brewer a headline...

FanGraphs has updated their team lists to include draftees with Pratt (#5), Knoth (#6) and Wilken (#11) all slotting into the 45 FV tier.

Bitonti (#19) and Boeve (#29) landed in the 40 FV tier.
