Give this pitching staff a lot of credit ! The way Cincinnati has been mashing the ball both the times before we played them , only to shut them down ,  SUPERB !

Finally!

That was as frustrating a game to watch as you’ll ever see but all’s well that ends well, I guess.

Reds fanatic has to be going nuts trying to figure out why they can't score on this staff.

I went over and browsed the 'Redszone'  game thread.  I gathered that the reason they lost is they had SIX, count em SIX, base on balls that shouldn't have been (according to their bias).  Mysteriously, no mention of our RISP ineptitude that kept them in the game.

Anytime you win a game with Rea in front of Burnes you gotta feel pretty good.

We should be pretty pleased with Rea this year.

Call up hiura and put miller at second

move adames down to about 7th in the order.

I'd like a better hitter than Hiura.  But yes, move Adames down in the order.

Yelich is a pretty good player. A journeyman, let us say.  Serviceable.

You should give him more credit … he’s currently playing far > serviceable

Other than to annoy me - Is there a reason for you to continue to repeat this tired comment?

Random thoughts.......

I think one of our hitting coaches needs to explain to Willy Adames the importance of making sure you take your brain with you before you step into the box.

Rea continues to be a real unsung hero.

Forget the #s with RISP. Zone in closer. Three innings in a row, Ks with a runner on 3rd & one out. And that's early in the game, not ultra-high pressure. This team gets into situations & presses. I know that sounds like an excuse. I know they aren't a good offensive team. But you can be a bad offensive team, and still press.

Sal Frelick, in (I think) 12 MLB PAs, has struck out once. Of course it comes with the runner on 3rd & one out. Welcome to the club.😄 But obviously he's gotten off to a terrific start.

All with Rea only giving up two runs.

A solid outing. He and Teheran have been great pickups. Maybe Arnold could remind Attanasio of this when he says he lost several million on the Winker expedition.

I like your post except I’d rather see Toro or Black instead of Hiura

We need someone to play first base

This. I just can’t deal with Adames at the top of the lineup anymore.

Toro can play 1B & has in Nashville

Miller can remain at 1B - where he’s better than Hiura

Hiura is a defensive liability no matter where he plays … & he strikes out too much as a DH only

Turangs bat speed looks so slow.  He just waves at the pitch.

I think it's less slow bat speed and more super long swing.

Maybe he just needs some time off and will come back.

With an OBP of .290, that doesn't seem to be a wonderful place for him to bat.

I am so done with the contact play with the infield in.

In that situation with runners on second and third and one out you always run on contact. Any bobble or inaccurate throw and you get the run. If the runner is out at home the runner on second moves up and you still have a runner on third.

Plays daily at SS and hits #2 or #3…. Immune.
Can’t imagine a Worst #3 hitter on a first place team. But at least Our AAA team has a good one.
