He has a 1.59 WHIP in 2023, with 2nd percentile xBA and 1st percentile xSlg

His xERA is 7.45

We have a resurgent Burnes on the mound

Please dear Lord let us rack up a ton of runs

The only one of five pitches he throws that hasn't completely sucked is the curveball

Contreras

Yelich

I've never understood why people get so annoyed by lineup construction. I understand Frelick isn't a "traditional #4 hitter", but having Yelich and Contreras 1 & 2 in the lineup at least gets your best two hitters maximum potential AB's. Also, the top 4 in tonight's lineup appear to be currently the best four bats in the lineup so I don't get the angst...

This lineup being an extreme example.  There aren't a lot of options here.  Folks get all worked up over a hot stretch by this marginal player or that marginal player but this lineup really is the epitome of duct tape and bailing wire.  They just cannot string enough quality at bats together ("good" players included) to really worry about the lineup construction.

More nervous for this series than the Braves series.  Kinda thought we'd get thumped by Atlanta. Gotta show something the next few series.

Plenty of debate and no clear answer on what is "best", but I tend to be one that prefers high OBP/low SLG (Frelick) in front of high OBP/ high SLG guys (Yelich) so there are people in base to increase the value of their hits.  Then followed by high SLG/Low OBP and then low OBP/SLG guys at the end. (low and high being relative to whom you have of course).

Going from 1st to 3rd in the batting order doesn't lose many ABs in a season

At least Adames is down at 6th now.  Hopefully he can snap out of his season long funk.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

Frelick - Canha - Yelic - Contreras - Santana - Monesterio - Adames - Anderson - Weimer?

Why would Santana not step on the bag instead of tagging the runner?

Playing from behind. Not good for a bad offense.

Well, playing from ahead didn't work out all the well yesterday so.....

Have to chuckle at Rotino breaking down the Nats offense and saying they don’t have a good recipe for scoring runs and are 22nd in MLB in runs per game.

Didn’t mention that the Brewers at 25th have a worse recipe.

The numbers seem to not be in line with this kids ability.  Maybe we get him second time through.
