Lame duck is next year when you go to Arby one last time. Then go free agent. It's really simple bro. There is no reason to risk injury as a lame duck with little hope of winning. Ask for a trade to someone serious about winning.

Have you seen the Cubs schedule on out vs ours?  First place is truly temporary.  We don't have a ton of cupcakes left,.  Cubs next 10 are 3 against the Royals, 3 against the Tigers, 4 against the Pirates.  These are games we need to win because the schedule allows us no favors down the stretch.  We are absolutely burnt if we lose games 1-0 against elite opponents.

I'd be ok with Taylor as a backup but not as a starter.

That's not happening during the season. That's an offseason decision. They're not going to let Adames go for nothing, yet.

Willie has made it an easy one. I guess the question is in what way is he better than the alternative right now? Especially if Counsell can't sit him down a say Willie you're in the 7 hole go forward.

Brewers just need to call up Hiura and Tellez. Not even sure either of them will hit, but they desperately need even the hope of a big bat in the middle of the order. I would call them up and rock this lineup.

3. Frelick - CF

5. Tellez - 1B 
6. Monasterio - 3B
7. Canha - RF
8. Turang - 2B
9. Adames - SS

Caratini - Burnes personal catcher

Santana - 1B platoon with Rowdy and 1B defensive replacement

Anderson - 3B defensive replacement

Taylor - 4th OF.

Option: Wiemer and Toro for Tellez and Hiura. DFA Jahmai Jones or Bennett Sousa to open up the 40-man spot for Hiura.

 

I'm not remotely a Hiura believer but he might have found his power stroke again and honestly there's more upside in his bat than Winker or Santana at this point.

They're not letting him go for nothing at this stage in the season. They may non-tender him in the offseason, but they're going to continue to try to turn him around in the meantime.
