Call it luck or whatever but getting guys on and putting the ball in play makes things happens.  Putting the pressure on the other teams defense is a thing, particularly with how most of this team can run.

For some reason I feel like people here think we should/would be happier if we signed FA bats like the Phillies do/did. Yet, this just goes to show that defense/run prevention matters just as much. For every run the Phillies get, their defense often ends up giving away.

Situationally/stretegically, yes.  I'm not saying they should do that as the normal course of business but when the team has all the other pieces in place, and this team does, go get a middle of the order bat.  Why not.  We've always been told the money is there when the time is right.  The time is right.
