What are your predictions for the Packers this year?

  • Record:
  • Will we make the playoffs? If yes, via WC or NFC North Champions?
  • Offensive MVP:
  • Offensive Most Improved Player:
  • Offensive Rookie of the Year:
  • Most Receiving Yards:
  • Most Rushing Yards:
  • Most TDs total (rushing or receiving):
  • Love's QB line: Rating, Yards, TDs, INTs:
  • Defensive MVP:
  • Defensive Most Improved Player:
  • Defensive Rookie of the Year:
  • Most Sacks:

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

Here are my predictions:

  • Record: 8-9
  • Will we make the playoffs?  No. Third in the NFC north behind Lions (1st) and Vikings(2nd)
  • Offensive MVP: Aaron Jones
  • Offensive Most Improved Player: Doubs.  Just edges out Watson.
  • Offensive Rookie of the Year: Reed.  Musgrave is tempting, but I see a lot of connection btw Love and Reed.
  • Most Receiving Yards: Doubs
  • Most Rushing Yards: Jones. I could also see Dillon getting it, while Jones has the most total yards on the team.
  • Most TDs total (rushing or receiving): Watson
  • Love's QB line: Rating, Yards, TDs, INTs: 90, 3500, 25, 15
  • Defensive MVP: Alexander. Gary would be my pick if he was 100% on day 1.
  • Defensive Most Improved Player: Walker.  Improvement started late last year.  I think a jump is coming for the young man.
  • Defensive Rookie of the Year:  Van Ness
  • Most Sacks: Smith.  This is his “up” year in his up, down, up, down cycle. Gary slowed early also impacts the decision.
  • Most INTs: Douglas.  Was uncomfortable in the slot, but much more natural back on the edge.
  • Carlson's FG%: 85%. Passable.
  • Others?
    • Zero 1000 yard receivers… but a few over 500 yards (Doub, Watson, Jones, Musgrave, Reed).
    • Sean Rhyan gets meaningful offensive snaps
    • At least one of our final starting safeties is not on our roster today (or on the roster as a safety).
    • Our defense struggles against the run…again. But better than last year.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

  • Record: 9-8
  • Will we make the playoffs?  No.
  • Offensive MVP: Aaron Jones
  • Offensive Most Improved Player: Love
  • Offensive Rookie of the Year: Reed.
  • Most Receiving Yards: Watson
  • Most Rushing Yards: Jones.
  • Most TDs total (rushing or receiving): Jones
  • Love's QB line: Rating, Yards, TDs, INTs: 95, 3700, 30, 18
  • Defensive MVP: Walker
  • Defensive Most Improved Player: Walker.
  • Defensive Rookie of the Year:  Van Ness
  • Most Sacks: Smith.
  • Most INTs: Alexander
  • Carlson's FG%: 79%

Others : Jordan Love makes the pro bowl. Between injuries and people dropping out, something tells me Love will be making the pro bowl. I think he has a good enough offense to help him put up some number stats and I think he can limit the INTs.

What are your predictions for the Packers this year?

  • Record: 10-7(really more about the schedule than my confidence in the team...which is solid, but normally would be ~7 wins).
  • Will we make the playoffs? If yes, via WC or NFC North Champions? WC-We lose the division to the Lions who win 10 games and win the tie-breaker just beat us.
  • Offensive MVP: Aaron Jones(because it's never an OL, but if we win 10 games, it's Bakh or Tom).
  • Offensive Most Improved Player: Zach Tom(though Walker if Tom needs to move due to injury).
  • Offensive Rookie of the Year: Reed barely edging out Musgraves.
  • Most Receiving Yards: Reed ~950
  • Most Rushing Yards: Jones 1250
  • Most TDs total (rushing or receiving): Jones 13
  • Love's QB line: Rating, Yards, TDs, INTs: 97 32/12 4200 yards
  • Defensive MVP: Jaire
  • Defensive Most Improved Player: Savage. I hope it's Wyatt, but feels like Savage will get turnovers this year, MAYBE a light turned on at the end of last year.
  • Defensive Rookie of the Year: Valentine
  • Most Sacks: Gary 13
  • Most INTs:  Savage-6
  • Carlson's FG%: 83%
  • Others? Offensive Receiving threats will be like the 2015 team with a bunch of players between ~500-950. No big 1500 yard seasons.
  • Reed has the 2nd most receiving yards for a Packers rookie, most since '52.
  • Musgrave has 55 catches
  • Stokes struggles to come back and doesn't regain his starting job unless there's injury(hope I'm wrong here).
  • 18 first of 2nd year players start a game for the Packers this season

There will be injuries that'll knock these down, but I don't want to predict a Musgrave injury or whoever.

I think our success this year leads to extensions for both Love and Gary and set the Packers up to be aggressive in the off-season.

I again, don't think the outlook right now is as rosy as the predictions suggest, but again, easiest schedule we've had in a long time, great OL, RBs on paper, WRers very good YAC.

And Valentine plays starter snaps by week 6-8.

Joe Barry is still fired.

  • Record: 11-6
  • Will we make the playoffs?  yes - NFC North Champs.
  • Offensive MVP: Love
  • Offensive Most Improved Player: Watson/Love
  • Offensive Rookie of the Year: Reed.
  • Most Receiving Yards: Watson
  • Most Rushing Yards: Jones.
  • Most TDs total (rushing or receiving): Watson
  • Love's QB line: Rating, Yards, TDs, INTs: 95, 3750, 28, 15
  • Defensive MVP: Clark
  • Defensive Most Improved Player: Walker.
  • Defensive Rookie of the Year:  Valentine
  • Most Sacks: Smith.
  • Most INTs: Douglas
  • Carlson's FG%: 75%

Others: The Packers' D finally emerges as the strength of this roster and gives Love cushion to get his feet wet as a starter.  Watson has a monster 2nd season, and Green Bay becomes a top 5 rushing offense in the NFL for the first time in forever.

My rosy record prediction is based on optimistic health of O line and key defensive players throughout the season, the Packers having a 3rd place schedule for a change, and the other teams in their division not being ready to make a strong case as being much more talented or ready to win consistently.  This is a solid roster, if Love shows he can be a viable starting NFL quarterback they are going to win a bunch of games early.

Hopefully not these songs...

But we are all asking this question:

What are your predictions for the Packers this year?

  • Record: 10-6-1 (I don't know who the tie is going to be; just go with it!)
  • Will we make the playoffs? Wild Card (Detroit wins Central)
  • Offensive MVP: Aaron Jones
  • Offensive Most Improved Player: Zach Tom (I'd say Rasheed Walker, but I'm hoping we don't see much of him at LT)
  • Offensive Rookie of the Year: Luke Musgrave
  • Most Receiving Yards: Romeo Doubs
  • Most Rushing Yards:  Aaron Jones
  • Most TDs total (rushing or receiving): Aaron Jones
  • Love's QB line: Rating, Yards, TDs, INTs: 87.2, 3900 yds, 32 TD, 20 INT
  • Defensive MVP: De'Vondre Campbell
  • Defensive Most Improved Player: Quay Walker
  • Defensive Rookie of the Year: Anthony Johnson, Jr.
  • Most Sacks: Rashan Gary
  • Most INTs:  Rasul Douglas
  • Carlson's FG%: 79% (just good enough to stick with; including some long kicks Crosby couldn't make)
  • Others? Packers will start a safety during the season who's not yet on the roster (RoY prediction notwithstanding)

I'm still holding out hope for a Jim Leonhard hire.

Saw a breakdown of his blitzes and they are just a thing of beauty. Barry may play tighter, but there are just things that I hope I'm wrong about that don't make sense. Kenny Clark at DE despite him playing much better at NT is a big one.

I also just don't see Barry getting creative. But I also don't want to root against the guy going into the season.

I'll hope I'm pleasantly surprised.

I'll just ignore the Savage predictions...though...
