Opening Day Roster Predictions

So today is officially 3 weeks until Opening Day. We have seen about a couple weeks of games. What is everyone's current Opening Day 26 man roster prediction?

Here's mine:

C - Contreras, Sanchez, Haase. With Sanchez being brought along super slowly (today was his first day facing live pitching) I think Brewers opt for caution and roster Haase to start the year.

IF - Hoskins, Turang, Adames, Ortiz, Dunn, Bauers

OF - Yelich, Chourio, Frelick, Mitchell

SP - Peralta, Miley, Junis, Hall, Rea

RP - Ross, Wilson, Peguero, Megill, Milner, Payamps, Uribe, Williams

Optioned to AAA - Ashby, Bukauskas, Clarke, Hudson, Junk, Quero, Capra, Miller, Monasterio, Perkins, Roller, Wiemer

Optioned to AA - Blalock

DFA - Vieira

Arroyo and no Megill? I don’t see it. 

We’re going to need Megill if Devin has to start on the IL.

Rosiak has me very confused on twitter. In his article he mentioned Arroyo having no options works in his favor to make the team. I asked why that matters because he's a NRI on an MiLB deal so he doesn't need to be optioned back to AAA. Rosiak then claimed that If Arroyo isn't added to the 40-man he would be able to be claimed by any team? I'm really confused.

Absolutely, Rosiak is wrong having Megill in the minors to start the year.

Even if Williams makes the OD roster, Megill should make the roster as well.

Having all three of Arroyo, Miller and Turang making the team would be rough. JD Davis is suddenly a lot more appealing.

Murphy just announced Turang as the opening day starting 2B. I expected this. Would expect a much shorter leash than last year for Turang though.

Up the middle defense will need to be optimized for this club to succeed, so I understand Turang being designated the starter. He is an excellent defender. Ortiz is reportedly glove strong as well. One of them will need to hit some.

Agreed, but the Manager announced Brice as the Opening Day second baseman, which I’m maybe taking too literally!

You could argue that the Brewers lost 4 of their best 6 pitchers from 2023. This is going to be a huge challenge to overcome this season. Hopefully they can tread water in 2024 and a couple of their minor league pitchers will take a large jump in their development to fill this gap next year.

Chourio has made the opening day roster.  Very surprised they are not going to let him get his feet a little wet in AAA.

So what is the significance of being reassigned to minor league camp for guys like Gasser and Black? Procedural move ?

My understanding is that drops us to 34 players in Big League camp, so there are 8 more moves to go.

I believe that Arroyo is the only NRI player remaining. So if he gets re-assigned and Devin is put on the injured list, we’ll still need to act on 6 other players - e.g. option, injured list or DFA.

I still think the biggest question we face is whether to roster Miley or shelve him for the first 15 days of the season. He’s scheduled to start this Thursday.

They won't be in the opening day roster most likely.

I get that…..but why not just option them to Nashville? Leaving options open just in case something happens?
