Why not let Wilson continue?

seems wise to save the bullpen with a five run lead

Only 2 days rest since the game he started.

Yeah....he did throw 50+ pitches on Wednesday. And Hoby was efficient. I could see trying to squeeze an extra inning out of him, but I don't mind letting him sit either.

There's still four innings to go. The game's not in the bag yet.

I agree - but Wilson pitched well while in there

Maybe Murph is anticipating 7 innings from Colin Rea tomorrow 😏

With Gray going, I'd assume that, if Rea doesn't go 6 or 7 strong, you're punting, especially if you can win today. Maybe that's just me in Gray-owns-us mode, though. :)

I really dislike the Cardinals

It sort of bothers me that all my retirement accounts are with Stifel who advertises on their uniforms

“Hello Stifel, I’d like to cash out all my accounts.”

”May we ask why?”

”Yeah, no problem, (expletive) the Cardinals.”

Frankly I was pretty flabbergasted to see Wilson at all. Throwing in a live game 3 days after throwing 57 pitches is pretty shocking. I had him mentally penciled in as unavailable today.

I’ve seen more than enough of Hall. If he isn’t injured the Burnes trade is a total bust.

The Burnes trade isn't even complete yet. Still have a high draft pick to make.

I like giving Abner a low pressure situation.

Anyone else think they should have gone to Vieira to try and get 8 outs here?

With Uribe struggling, I think letting him try to build confidence is worth it. I don't really want Vieira against Goldy and Contreras.

I do like that Arenado forced his way out of Colorado because they didn’t win. Then he comes to St. Louis, where they had some regular season success initially but are now seemingly an also ran team due to a lack  of quality pitching

Right, sucks for him but didn't he just opt in instead of hitting FA? don't recall for sure.

That trade was so weird. Col basically gave him a way in order to not pay the whole contract.  Then just gave a similar amount of money to Bryant right away who is a clearly worse player. But hey at least the owner isn't being cheap, spend that money!!  Col has had those couple of good runs in the last 15ish years so tough to bash them a ton, but the last few years have been some real head scratchers for them.

I hope Ortiz gets more starts at 3B moving forward

Just yesterday when Dunn was hitting 4th (or close to it) I decided to double check his minors hitting stats.  Yea there's no reason to think those few good games to start the year aren't fools gold.   Not say that he can't be solid/competent and respectable player and its good he seems to have a good approach/eye instead of the zillion Ks we've watched for years, but any expectation of some great hitter should be tempered.

Yeah, he'd be a great closer but he's got to get his control together first.

Uribe immediately walks lead off hitter to begin the 8th inning
