With a left handed hitter against a RHP, I don’t like the bunt.

Try to pull the ball and you might get a hit.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

So glad I'm in good company on this.

There was already one out, and Koenig is gigantic and on top of a mound.  Against a normal pitcher, that's a run and a win.  Without the contact play on, against a normal pitcher he reads it slowly, stays at 3rd and now there is 2 outs and you still lose the game.

(I'm playing some devil's advocate here (questionable whether it gets past a "normal" sized pitcher)...but I DO think the contact play is smart in most instances...except a comebacker..)

Well, if I ever see it work maybe I'll change my mind. Until then, it's the stupidest play in baseball.

I've been in this discussion for years within game threads.  Basically, it has to work like once out of 12 times in order for it to break even....(and I've pointed it out multiple times when it works...)

How would the game result be different if he stayed at 3rd?

I think on the contact play, if you hesitate at 3B & read whether the ball gets by the pitcher, often you can't score due to that start-stop-start. There's a reason why most teams do what they do, the way they do it.

Damn, what a dynamic win.

I thought Koenig would be one of those shuttle guys btwn AAA & MIlwaukee. Not so sure now.

After fouling off two bunts, what a big boy AB by Turang to STILL get the runner to third.

Rea seemed a little afraid of contact in the AB to the 8-hole hitter preceding the HR by Grisham. Fell behind both guys. Uncharacteristic. Still, the offense kept us there & allowed him to go six.

Loved how Hudson found a way to put up a zero despite not locating the way he's used to. Looked every bit like a veteran.

The only fault I can see with this particular play is MAYBE Jones could've gotten in a rundown to try to get the batter-runner to 2nd. But pretty doubtful.

Just got in, what a great game. Ortiz came threw bigtime. Murphy was like a proud grandaddy today and I think the players really like and respect him a lot.  We are getting production from different players every game, so all contributing to the cause. We just need to get Frelick and Chourio back on track but it will come.
