Uribe is talented so likely back this season but it does remind be of Bob Sebra and his fight. He received a five game suspension for starting the large brawl with the Mariners in the early 90's. Never made it back to the majors and left he game with the 5 game suspension still intact.

I flashed a bit to Sebra, too.

The demotion probably was needed, both for his command issues AND for touching off the brawl. Like Devin Williams punching the wall, it was stupid, and it deprives the team of his services possibly at a crucial time.

I'd like to see Uribe actually start pitching well in AAA before they entertain bringing him back up. He just hasn't been very good in 2024 so far.

Maybe the best time to bring Uribe back up would be a couple days before the all star break and split the suspension up that way.

Also Rhys Hoskins should be coming back next homestand against Cubs I think. I haven't heard much about him.

Yeah, best bet is the ASB, short handed for two days on either side.

Also have off days Aug 1st and 5th, so could call him up July 31st which would be one day short handed (off day) three days short handed (off day).

After that it’s probably expanded rosters in September.

Off day on Thursday, June 6 (next week)…… if bullpen is not severely taxed, bring up Uribe for to sit games on Tues, Wed, Thurs. (off day), Fri., and Sat.

Getting it over with ASAP would be the best approach I would think.  We can still shuttle other guys like Koenig/Hall/Herget/Bukauskas/etc.

How has Uribe looked in the minors?

depends on Megill's status. I wouldn't to be without 2 arms if he isn't going on the DL.

very small sample size. 8 2/3" innings pitched, 1.04 ERA, 7K, 7 games pitched.

…seven walks, two hit by pitch, two wild pitches.

I’m not calling Abner up until he can exhibit some command in Nashville.

Agreed. His stuff is so good that he can blow people away in AAA regardless, but he needs to show command or he's going to struggle in the big leagues.

Not very good. Command has been terrible. He's not getting many whiffs or strikeouts and has been giving up a bunch of free passes. I wouldn't want him pitching in the MLB pen right now.
