Phillies are a really good ball club. We've lost two tough ones. On to the next. Despite the lack of opportunistic knocks, these are good showings. 🤷‍♂️

Well, certainly not 'bad' showings. I thought the last two relievers opened the door for them, & we couldn't walk through.

Guys, Elvis has a sub 3 era and that's the 2nd run he's given up in his last 10 outings.    He's given up like 4 runs since mid April.

Look beyond his ERA and actually watch him pitch. He has no clue where the ball is going out of his hand. He's been getting incredibly lucky and has allowed something like 80% his inherited runners to score. The HR pitch today was supposed to be a down and in sinker that he threw to the top of the zone. It's bad right now.

Was she blonde?

Just to be thorough, Asian & fairly good-looking. She also went to nursing school for a couple years, then quit because she decided she didn't want to be around sick people.

Cubs losing to the White Sox by 5 rn. That makes me feel a little better

Did you really think they would hold a lead?

Obviously can't remember every game as they run together and there isn't a quick way to game log inherited runners.   But on frangraphs, he's only given up a hit in like 3 of his last 10 games before tonight.  His season LOB% is 77.5%.      I don't really know a comp % on that stat so I grabbed the Baltimore setup man Cano who is very good and should probably be their closer, he's in the low 70%s.  Then grabbed former Brewer great Will Smith who's had like a 12 year career as a solid middle/setup guy and won multiple WS and his career % is 73%.       I know we have grown accustomed to ridiculous pitching standards the last few years, but these guys just can't be perfect.

Cubs won but STL lost. Those are the 2 teams I worry about.

That LOB% stat on fangraphs has nothing to do with inherited runners. Peguero has the most meltdowns in the pen and the lowest WPA among non shuttle guys. He's just not been good in high leverage spots this year.

I was responding to a poster who said he felt better because the Sox led the Cubs by 5.

I love what Ortiz has done but Burnes era 2.26 would really look good this year with us.

Burns is in the last year of his 15.5 million $$ contract and will be wanting more next year so that is why they traded him.

No biggie, but at least STL lost they scare me more than the Cubs do.

You could say the same about Adames. He's still here.

But Adamas is 3 million cheaper and a SS plays every day,  A pitcher about once every 5 games.

Just my opinion.

Given the state of the rotation you could argue Burnes would be more of an impact. Spilled milk but just a thought.

And Adames wouldn't have brought nearly as much as Burnes did.

And Adames has a much bigger role in the clubhouse than Burnes. Also pitchers are just way more injury prone than position players and all it takes is one big injury for a pitcher like Burnes and boom you no longer can give him a QO and get a comp pick out of it. That risk for a position player is much smaller.

Didn't get the breaks tonight but sometimes against good teams you have to make your own breaks.

Have to try and salvage the last game of the series.  Think that would be a huge boost to the team.

Yea there wasn't an easy pull up.   And sure ok, but still doesn't mean he hasn't been generally fine/good and our standards are high and have to remember people can't be perfect. Most teams would love for his results from a mid innings guy being paid league min.    Including last night, 5/10 of his last games he's given up 0 hits or BBs. And that was only his 2nd BS of the year.       Personally, for a bullpen full of guys who suck they sure get good results.
