I’m all for picking up scrap heap guys.   But this Dallas guys is a whole other category.   I’d rather go with a a young guy who has potential to be good and find someone legitimate to replace him

the problem. I have with Dallas is that he lacks the quality I want in a pitcher.   The ability to throw a baseball.   That’s really hard to overcome

Pretty obvious what Keuchel needs to do to stick around--put the off speed stuff low & on corners, get swings on that stuff, and then maybe he can put himself in a position where he throws upper 80s & it can look like 95. Not much margin for error. Oh, and very, very few walks.

When he's laying off pitches off the plate & drawing a few walks, does Bauers remind anyone else of Russell Branyan w/a glove?

My goodness, Contreras. OK, it's an elite closer, coming through there in the 9th isn't easy, but at least have an idea how he's going to work you w/1B open & the winning run on third. Give yourself a chance. Really ugly AB.

Great BP work again, esp. Koenig.

Braves over Cardinals in game 1.  Lead back to 6.5.

2 GB of the Dodgers, for those getting greedy about avoiding the first playoff round.

That seems to be a perfect description of Myers and Gasser.  How many of those guys do you think the Brewers or any major league team has?

Lefty lefty bunt? Lol. Come on Murphy.

I suspect that's a large part of the reason why he WAS bunting. Probably lets him go if there was a RHP throwing (although he quite likely gets walked in that case).

LOVE a walk-off for 'Mona'. Ultimate teammate. Plenty of talent in the bag. Works extremely hard. Stays prepared. Great attitude. Will play anywhere you ask him to. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my ultility guys. Every one of them deserves these opportunities. So elated when they come through - it's just not easy to do!

In case anyone was wondering, Garrett Mitchell appeared to tweak a left hammy today in a swing-and-miss toward the end of the game (end of the following clip). He left the game immediately. He has been absolutely playing lights out the past week plus. Gotta keep him healthy. Such a weapon. Check out the OF assist nabbing the very speedy Victor Mesa Jr.:

LOL what a terrible play by Texas Center fielder.

The fielder has to touch it or something for it to count as an error, but that was really a single and a 3-base error if official scoring could use common sense. I’m not sure it’s possible to get an inside the parker that wasn’t misplayed in some way.

Other than the immense swing-and-miss problem he's had at the MLB level, that's the elephant in the room For Mitchell. Breaks something taking batting practice. Tweaks a hammy swinging-and-missing. At this point, you just can't feel you have a surplus of OFs as long as he's in your plans.

Paul Molitor had trouble staying healthy, then enjoyed relative good health later in his career. Hopefully the same thing happens with Garrett.

He has actually hit ok lefty lefty. I would let him hit vs doing something he hasn't done much of at all.

Contreras is going to make all star game but I’d rather he have the week off now.    That guy needs an extended break

also did Ortiz get hurt?

He ran into the tarp and also Murphy said he's been dealing with a neck.

Yeah, it's basically impossible to hit an inside the park HR in any ballpark that doesn't involve a poor misplay.  But, not every poor misplay is an error, thus, the inside the park HR exists.

I mean, Prince hit 2 because a CFer completely lost the ball in the lights and a RFer refused to pick up a live ball wedged under the fence. But, they weren't errors.
