Made and Pena both 2-for-3 in the middle innings. Made's 4th 2-bagger. Pena's 5th. Incredible. Additionally, Made appear to be credited with his first error of the summer - heck of a defensive output by the everday player. Meanwhile, Panamanian 17-year-old Manuel Moreno is throwing darts from the hill: 4 IP, 3 H, 4 K, 0 R. The Crew Uno lead the Orioles Orange 4-0 in the bottom of the 5th. This is their third time facing each other in a two week period. Mini 'series' is currently at a 1-1 split.

Meanwhile, we are in the top of the 5th and the Crew Dos lead the Astros Orange 2-0. Young Nicaraguan 17-year-old Lonell Downs with his best start of his summer (in his third GS overall) going 4 IP of 3 H, 1 BB, 3 K, 0 R ball. Fantastic effort from the young man. It appears RHP Justin Lugo has been called on to spell him in the 5th. Let's hope, like Downs, he finds his best form of the summer.

Lugo suffered the fates of a double error (Quintana and Charles) and a scored passed ball. Astros Orange pulled within 2-1. He hit a batter in the ensuing AB's (can you blame him? Probably was watching Stroman last night 🤭) but escaped further harm. And, now the Crew Dos has backed him up with three runs of their own. We see OF Jose Anderson has re-entered the chat with an RBI double. C Luis Corobo stole home in a successful double steal. Noice! 5-1 as they head to the 6th frame.

Yes, it really is incredible.

Made now at a 1.040 OPS with a 14% K-rate & Pena with a 1.263 OPS and 9% K-rate.

Looking forward to see what they can do stateside.

Peña still flirting with a BA of ~.500. Wow

C Edgardo Ordonez just hit his 7th homer of 2024 in the ACL. That should ordinarily garner a promotion, but his defensive stats have gone from solid to awful (errors, passed balls, low CS ratio).

High-A Wisconsin trails South Bend 2 games to 1 at home, but can flip the script in today’s doubleheader. RHP Will Rudy (5.68 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, 7.6 K/9 in 52.1 IP) starts the first game and DH/INF Jadher Areinamo comes in with an 11-game hitting streak.

Carlos F. Rodriguez comes in for Hall.  Walks the first man. Then a couple of singles. Line out by a great leaping catch by Dorian saves some runs. Pop up. But the next guy hits a hard single to RF. And Jacksonville gets 2 runs. A grounder ends it. Carlos did not look sharp.

Meanwhile Shane Smith having uncharacteristic struggles.  Gave up a HR in the first. In the third - walk, hit and HBP loads the bases. But a K and then a GIDP.  Phew. Still it’s 57 pitches through 3 IP

TRats are up big. Currently 10-1
And Carolina looking to end it. And a strike out by Chourio. 5-3 Mudcats win. Great start by Letson and a huge 2 inning save by newly signed Tyler Bryant.

Mudcats Win 5-3!!!

4 shutout innings from Bishop Letson.

9-for-9 on stolen base attempts (led by Yhoswar Garcia and Daniel Guilarte who combined for 6!), while C David Garcia threw out both attempted stealers for the Hillcats.

Yhoswar reached base 3 times (2B, 1B, HBP) and the team survived a Harrison Durow special (3 ER, 4 runners stranded in 2 IP).

Congrats to Tyler Bryant on the 2-inning save.

Thorough shellacking in Wisconsin’s 10-1 victory:

- Scored each of first 4 innings for 10-0 lead, with all 9 players reaching base in the game, 8 via hit
- Will Rudy went 5 innings strong, issuing no walks or HBPs and only 4 hits (HR, outfield single, 2 infield singles)
- 4 doubles and 4-for-4 on SB attempts
- Luke Adams reached base 4 times (1B, 3 BB), Gregory Barrios had 3 hits (and an SB) and Jheremy Vargas 3 RBIs and 2 SBs

EBJ with the gaudy 0.499 OPS through 200 Double-A AB. Ummmm, yeah. Didn't have that on my 2024 Bingo Card. 🥴

Should the organization go ahead and make Gregory Barrios the 2nd-youngest player in the Southern League?

I’m sure that’s what they’re contemplating and perhaps struggling with as they consider whether to promote Cooper Pratt to High-A.

After leading 2-1 since the 4th inning, Justin Yeager unfortunately couldn’t close it for Biloxi, allowing a 3-run homer with 2 outs in the top of the 9th inning. He was ahead 0-1 to that batter and 0-2 to the prior hitter (singled).

Yoho and Holub are the true shut down guys, but Yeager can normally be counted on - he drops to 7-for-9 in save opportunities.

Solid work by Shane Smith, Bo Bowman, Sam Carlson and Justin King over 8 innings: 1 R, 5 H, 2 BB, 2 HBP, 8 Ks

CF Carlos D. Rodriguez tripled in a run and scored in the 4th inning to give Biloxi the 2-1 advantage which nearly held up.
