Oh, and the guy sitting in front of me caught the foul ball from Chourio, the pitch before he got hit.

I remember one time in Old county stadium Kevin Seitzer whistled one foul that was coming right at me and a guy stuck his hand up and didn't catch it but by the time three innings was done his hand was the size of a grapefruit.

The ‘06 Cardinals were absolute trash. I still get mad thinking about that team. But I bet a girl that they’d lose the World Series against the Tigers. Lost the bet, took her on a date, and the rest is history, so not all bad I guess.

Reminds me of Todd Gack betting Elaine Dustin Hoffman was in Star Wars.

Yes, but in that case being a full game up would trigger a “tie” in this version of the standings. If you move it a half game, if they end up tied in real life, the Dodgers end up a half game up in the altered standings. If the Brewers end up a game ahead, they are still a half game up and thus clearly ahead. It is all semantics, but I had just usually seen a half game adjustment before this year.

You are correct.  A half game would better indicate who is ahead.  If you give them the full game then if we were to be a game ahead you wouldn't think we would be tied, but using that math we would be.

Remember what Yoda said:

Regardless of circumstances, anytime the cards or cubs lose, my day is just a little better.

Not for me.

Plenty more opportunities for the Dodgers to lose. Don’t give the Cardinals any breath.

Exact opposite for me.

Division is over.  Cardinals are a bad baseball team.

Yeah I can get on board with that. Love watching the Cardinals lose. This was more about the need the Cardinals to lose because the division race isn't over mentality.

Yeah you're right. I've never actually seen people talk about so always just added the full game, but adding the half game definitely makes the most sense so you're 0.5 back with the same record and 0.5 ahead when 1 game better.

One of my favorite things to do these days is watch Counsell stumble through his postgame interview

He sounds monotone & sleepy - never makes eye contact with anyone - generally sounds miserable

Do they grill him, or do they ask him his favorite color on Thursdays?

I'm betting the Chicago Media is a little bit tougher on him than what he had to deal with in Milwaukee.

He just looks down & mumbles like he did with the Brewers - but at least he doesn’t have his kids seated with him

I sold peanuts at old Co. stadium when I was 15 years old and Robin was a rookie in 1974.

Yeah, this is crazy. FanGraphs has the Brewers with 98% division odds. That‘s all but wrapped up. The 25% bye odds are way, way more important at this point. Rooting for the Cardinals over the Dodgers should be a very easy call for a Brewers fan right now

Disagree completely especially when the Brewers face the Cardinals seven times in the next week. Cards go 6-1 and the lead gets cut down to 5.5 games with a month left. Brewers go 4-3 or better and it’s pretty much over but it’s definitely not over until at least the last matchup is done

This is why the Brewers odds to win the division are 98.5%.

It hasn't been super pressing, but the Chicago sports media does have a way of repeating questions daily when they get non-answers, and basically that approach lets a manager give himself enough rope to consider hanging his job out to dry when things arent going well.

Before the ink was dry on CCs contract I thought he was in for a rude awakening with the publicity and media attention that job brings.  Hoping when the cameras and mics are off he still finds time to smile while counting his $$$

Screw CC!

I hope he is miserable in Chicago until that contract is done.

sure - but the odds of a 6-1 stretch against the Brewers are very slim, and even if that happens it's just as likely for the Cardinals to follow it with a 2-5 stretch the following week against other teams.

With how the Brewers have been finding ways to consistently put together winning months of baseball (the lone outlier was an 11-13 July - not great but hardly a cratered month), I'm not worried about losing a division lead to a different team until there's one at least 5 games above 0.500 at this point in the year.  The Cards would have to go 7-0 just to achieve that right now.

I got to sit in the Miller Lite Landing (?).  It is far away, but, at least, people weren't getting up in front of me every five minutes to talk, go to the bathroom, etc.  Very good time.

Brewers only play the Cardinals 6 more times, not 7. One less H2H game to worry about.

Wouldn't that be just like the Cardinals to go 6-1 in only six games? #BFIB

And the Brewers need to win 1 of the 6 games to get the tiebreaker so even if the Brewers went 2-4 in those series the Cards would only gain 1 game on us in the standings. They basically would need to go 6-0 against us to have any realistic chance of coming back in the division.

It's over. Why on earth should we be concerned about a team that is 11 games behind us and has a -62 run differential. 99% odds are 99% odds. Like I get everyone carries Devil Magic scars, but prime Pujols or even prime Goldy and Arenado ain't walking through that door.

Speaking only for myself, I am rooting for the Brewers. I'll worry about other teams come mid Sept.
