An online friend pointed me in the direction of this forum.  Full disclosure, not a big baseball fan, though by Dad (from Racine) was a big Brewers fan.

During a visit to family with him in 1980, ten year old me was on an airplane with the team, and got all their autographs on a placement (Northwest Airlines maybe).  Its been under a frame in the house and in storage for years.

My friend Cami said this might be the best place to find info about what to do with it, etc.

First, welcome to the site!

I'm not much of an autograph person but others here should know more than me. You might want to get it authenticated, that 1980 team had some outstanding players, several of which were still around in 1982. Given what little I know about autographs, having it authenticated should increase the value considerably.

Not much else to add to this but a couple things.

1.  Welcome to the site!!!  I hope you stick around a bit.

2.  Cool story!!!!!  Really!!!!

3.  Authentication is the best answer I've got, as well.  Not sure how you go would go about doing that, though.

Is that something I can do locally?  (I'm in NYC)  If so , where?

That's I wrote them.  Looks like it may cost more to authenticate ($150+) than I think the actual item is worth, unless I am seriously undervaluing what these go for.

I'm sure there are no shortage of appraisers/authenticators in NYC. Just Google it, and I'm sure you'll be fine.

May try that as well, since I could feasibly bring it.

You could get it framed and accidentally get it into the hands of a sick kid in the hospital and then promise the kid that Sal Frelick will hit two home runs to get it back!  😆

Bat boys travelled with the team in 1980?

I'm not validating his story; just pointing out the signatures in the photo.

Okay, I love this item. It’s obviously real. Put it on eBay with a $200 reserve. I think it’s worth at least that much.

If your reserve isn’t met, I’ll buy it from you for $250 and use it in our site’s yearly awards to users.

I hereby nominate myself as user most likely to loooooove this item.  😄

Apologies to the poster, this is only slightly related but I can't help but pass this on. A former GF of mine grew up near County Stadium in the early years of the franchise & went to many games as a kid. In helping her pack up & move, I came across an old autographed ball. Knowing the era she grew up in, I wasn't surprised to find a bunch of signatures of nondescript Brewers from the first couple years the team was in Milwaukee. Then, there it was among the Kubiaks, Krausses & Roofs: Ted Williams (He managed the Washington Senators at the time). She told me that all she remembered was running around by the players' exit with the ball, not knowing who was who, and asking "Are you anybody?"

Williams could be a little surly so I assume Washington won that day, because a loss followed by a teenager asking him if he was anybody might've resulted in the ball being hoisted onto the VA grounds.

Nellie Fox (HoF) was a coach on those Senator teams too.

Sorry, it took me awhile to get back on to this, then spaced on which email I used to join.

I would be fine with either the Ebay or the purchase option, just happy it goes where appreciated.  I'd happily sell it here.  (Id get a better frame if you want, this old one has behind it awards from junior high, some certificate from the (no-longer-called-that) Hayden planetarium, etc.

Semi-tangent, as a kid, this wasn't the only time I got an autograph on a plane.  Though I was a tad too young to recall him, when my mom saw Soupy Sales on our plane, late 1970s I guess, she made me get his autograph too.  And no idea where that is.

Life got in the way and I haven't done anything with it.  I'd be down for this.

Conspicuous by his absence - Paul Molitor.

He did miss about 50 games that year, so he could have been on the IL.

Fun fact about that team - the only player to play in all 162 games?  Gorman Thomas.  And he didn't even lead the league; Al Oliver and Steve Garvey played in 163 games.  I don't know how that's possible as both played for the same team all season.

Possible they were in a game that ended in a tie?  The 1982 Brewers played 163 games.
