Friggin Pirates…….just blew a 10-3 lead

Biggest blown lead at home since 1961

I know 7 walks the Pirates gave them to go along with 13 hits for the Cubs. Terrible.

Enjoy! It was so tempting to go today with the nice weather but I had a conflict come up. Hopefully the M's strike out less than 15 times today...

Cubs now up 14-10. The Pirates are an embarrassment.

I thought we were supposed to get passed for first place by the end of the Dodgers series....

Cubs scored 41 runs in the 3 games.

The Pirates announcer after the final out: "One of the worst losses in the history of the Pittsburgh Pirates today. Historic."

At the current pace of the Cubs gaining 1 game on the Brewers per 10 games played, the Cubs will have it down to 6 games by the end of the season.

The Brewers have already been winning and their lead has grown by several games in August.

You previously assured us that the Brewers would be out of first place by the time they played the Dodgers. I'd take a step off the ledge before dooming every time a team below us has a good series or two.

The Cubs have been playing good baseball, but they have to catch the Braves first who they haven't even gained any ground on in the last week. Heck, their first order of business is catching the Mets.

Let's say the Brewers just have an absolutely dreadful end to the season going 10-21 to finish 85-77. The Cubs would need to finish 18-10 to pass the Brewers.

If the Brewers just manage to play 15-16 over the final 31 games they would finish 90-72 which would require the Cubs to go 23-5 to pass the Brewers.

Even in the midst of this Cubs hot streak they are still 5 games back of the final WC spot having actually lost a game of ground on the Braves over the last 10 games.

Current pace don’t mean squat.    It really doesn’t.   Brewers just need to win games.   It’s simple as that.   But if it gets down to 3-4 game lead with 15-20 to go.    We have a major ten game stretch against Arizona and Philly      They better quit giving away games like the last two

i knew the cards schedule was too hard.    Cubs really isn’t that bad

Brewers better start winning games before it gets down to 4-5 games.    The numbers are overwhelmingly in our favor.   It’s not over though.    That’s all I’m saying.

Again, though, the Brewers have been winning games and for essentially the entire season....

It really comes down to what you mean by "over". If you mean from a technical standpoint, no there's still a combination of 21 Brewers wins and Cubs losses that has to occur before it's over. If you mean from a probabilistic sense, it's as close to over as any playoff race in baseball if it's not over.

Yep.   Keep winning.   But it isn’t guaranteed.    We are the only team that hasn’t had a losing streak over 3 games.     If it’s our turn to have a longer losing streak this upcoming month it could easily make it tighter

am I worried now.   No.   It’s a huge lead.   Am I saying it’s over.    No
