Brewers (Peralta) vs Diamondbacks (Rodriguez): 9/13/24, 8:40pm

Say what you want about the lack of runs, but they just held the best offense in baseball (and a red hot one at that) to a single run in the first inning....You can win games in the postseason if you pitch like this.

Nice win.  Bullpen and defense as has been the case for most of the year.

The knock against them has been, lack of power will hurt them in the post season...Not tonight thanks to Rhys.

That right there is the recipe for winning in the playoffs for this team. 5 innings from the SP and let the bullpen do what they do. Hopefully the bats break out of this team wide slump before the playoffs so the pitching doesn't need to be this good.

I am a simple man. All I ask is this:

1. Brewers sweep AZ

2. Mets sweep Phillies

3. Braves sweep LAD

4. Colorado puts a dent in the Cubs. I'm not even asking for a sweep!

First day all four games went the Brewers way.  Let's hope it continues through the weekend.

The bullpen went 4 innings against one of the best offenses in the league and only gave up 1 batted ball with xBA over .210...impressive stuff especially considering they were protecting a 1-run lead.

It might call for a lot of antacids, but if we make a run in the post-season the last two wins are what I think it's going to have to look like. Starter "good enough" for 4 or 5 innings, BP stepping up, and one or two guys running into a HR---we have enough people that can do that---and hopefully when the HR happens someone, or a couple someones, find a way to reach ahead of it, be it a bunt, walk, whatever.

I won't get too critical of Chourio leading off even though I hate it, since the alternatives seem a little paltry. But Mitchell hitting 2nd vs a LHP is asinine. If Chourio is going to hit leadoff you might as well just go total bar league & hit Contreras 2 & Adames 3.

Ton of credit to Frelick for going up there for the 1st time all night & having to face a lefty. Put a good swing on the ball. Bauers deserved better, too.

Mitchell getting picked off 1st, with a runner ahead of him, is high school stuff. Also, Garrett, I realize you don't make out the batting order & it isn't your fault you're hitting 2nd tonight, but realize who you are, who you're facing & what the situation is in the 1st inning & just lay one down.

Kinda felt it might be our night when Megill got Pederson to start the 8th. Assuming they hit for him if Koenig started the inning?

Serious pen work vs a hot team. And kudos to Freddy for working through some of the same chronic problems but not imploding.

Brewers relievers have allowed 3 earned runs over their last 59.1 innings. Devin Williams: "We got a great group of guys. Lot of options. I have confidence in everyone. We even have a couple more guys down in the minor leagues I think could help us, as well."

Not sure why they didn't keep Koenig in here and at least force the Dbacks to pinch hit for Joc.

Was wondering the same. I'm assuming they would've pulled him for Josh Bell or Grichuk. Kind of a gray-area decision for me.

I just don’t mind it. Megill has basically even splits. LHH with a .241 wOBA against him and RHH with a .245 wOBA against him this year. Let him start with a clean inning rather than potentially coming in with a runner on base

Massive mistake by Murhpy to leave Freddy in.

I would've pulled him before his last hitter. But it would've made for an interesting dynamic because Payamps was set for the 6th & Koenig the 7th. Very similar to his fifth inning vs Colorado, lots of hard contact. Sometimes the bear eats you, and sometimes...........

Nice of him to give Peguero a vote of confidence like that.
