Trump's visit tomorrow (IT's A TRAFFIC POST, I PROMISE!)

Trump will be speaking in Waunakee and Milwaukee tomorrow. I have been looking for indications of whether he will drive from Waunakee to MKE, or fly. I live in Waunakee, and am worried about traffic disruptions. I have been in cities where presidents have visited and they shut down a lot of roads for a long time if the motorcade is coming through. If 94 gets shut down, I need to plan a lot more time to get to the game. Anyone who hears anything about how he will get from one place to another, let me know.

We are in the same boat, Underachiever. We're planning to leave Madison by 1:00 since the event in Waunakee is scheduled to happen at 1:30 (and based on my extremely small sample of attending political events over time, the candidates tend to be late more often than early).  I think our fallback option will be to take 18 if 94 is badly disrupted. 

Having said all this, I've also wondered why someone in that position would be in a motorcade when they could fly.  Waunakee is not insanely far from the MSN airport.

He might be flying. I hope he is. I just don’t know.

I would be shocked if they drive that far. It would be a security nightmare. 
 

Also, the plane has to go to Milwaukee anyway to take him to his next destination. He and his entourage might as well go with it.

That is too far of a drive.  Maybe if they were on a bus the SS would approve of this but not in a motorcade.  The motorcade is only for short distance driving and the distance from the airport to the manufacturing plant is already a rather long drive.  The longer you have to drive a motorcade the more possibilities of something happening so the SS will try and keep that at the minimum. 

So the more likely plan would be:

Plane --> Motorcade --> site --> Motorcade --> Plane

Thinking about this more, Underachiever, I think your biggest challenge will be simply getting out of the Kee.  Some of my family lives there, but I would not call myself an expert on the best ways in and out of the village.  It's likely the motorcade will go just from MSN to the event site on Division St and then back, and those will be the disrupted roads.  

Maybe if you head south to Middleton and then head east.  Out of the way somewhat, but being out of the way of a secret service motorcade is probably good.  Best wishes! 

ETA: it's the caravan that'll be using the interstate, per my mom who is watching local news live from Waunakee (where she is staying in her house).
