Bauers goes opposite field for a 2 run homer against Steele

wind blowing out today

Doubled and homered today. Seems like an opt-out candidate to me, unless a key MLB position player injury pops up (heaven forbid).

PCA will be an insufferable opponent for many years

He's truly an incredibly talented highly disruptive player. You could tell back in his South Bend days he was already an absolute menace on the OF grass and the base paths and if he evolved even a little bit at the dish he was a sure fire MLB player. And, in his second year, he surely has evolved into a legitimate menace.

Megill looks not himself this season so far but he is in Spring and throws 101 so it is not worrying me yet.

Him as the fulltime closer while good last season was stressful because his Knuckle Curve is a pitch that puts batters out whiffing but it also hits the ground and bounces hard and makes for a free base opportunities and lost games because of that.

I like him better as a set up guy in the 8th inning than a closer.     Craig Yoho is The Closer Who Was Promised. When he gets here we are set so I am not worried about our closer situation AT ALL.

I wouldn't worry about Megill too much yet. It's spring training, so I'm sure he's probably just working on some things. Most likely not pitching with the same pitch mix he normally would in the regular season.

Sounds like a vintage Miz experience.

Yep, pretty much. Imo, unless he harnesses his control out of nowhere, there's no way he'll end up a starter at the MLB level.

That makes me wonder if they are leaning into Dunn/Capra rather than Dunn/Durbin.

edit to add:  I say this as I fear Durbin is a poor defender at 3rd, and would play more second base, which would mean more moving parts with a platoon situation.

Most likely.... I'm assuming vs LHP Ortiz moves to SS, Durbin plays 2B, Capra plays 3B.

Murphy has said they don’t want to switch positions with those guys……they want those guys to have regular positions……..so my guess is the platoon will not include Turanq if he is the starting shortstop.

Small sample size and all but Dunn was very good at 3rd in 2024

Turang is one of my favorite players on this team, but he's proven to be pretty limited with the bat so far in his career.

For his career's sake, it would be good to play a strong defensive shortstop, so he can be deemed an everyday player. That's tougher to pull off at 2nd in the eyes of the faithful.

Even with a below average bat last year, Turang was nearly worth 5 WAR. He should absolutely be an everyday player
