We have our first Minor League Camp lineups, thanks to BrewersPD! We’ll create a new thread for this, but I wanted to share the first one here right away. Hooray!

Oooooo boy. Get Bitonti and Payne in at 1B and CF and that A ball lineup is unreal.

We thank @BrewersPD for once again sharing lineups from Minor League Camp, giving us about 2 weeks worth of information to decipher - e.g. missing players (injuries?), position changes (Erceg pitching!?) and eventually likely assignment levels for some players (AAA, AA, A+, A).

I'd advise that you don't read too much into indicated assignment levels for top prospects (who often feature higher in these Spring Training games), pitchers and catchers (who work wherever slots are available) or clear back-ups (daily fillers).

Here are the first Minor League Camp lineups of 2025, the surest sign that Baseball and Spring are nearly upon us! Jesus Made (17), Luis Pena (18), Jose Anderson (18), Josh Adamczewski (19) and Luis Corobo (17) in the same lineup! Marco Dinges behind the plate! Demetrio Nadal in the outfield?!

The "Gillis" pitcher listed is 24-year-old RHP Tanner Gillis, an early September 2024 non-drafted signing.

Although he is still listed as "Active" on his MiLB Player Page, I've given up hope that LHP Jackson Gillisout of Vanderbilt, is still with the organization (carried officially through the 2022 season's 60-day injured list).

For those in the know… does this mean anything with Made, Anderson, Pena, Corobo besides that they are stateside? Do guys in these games still typically go to ACL/extended spring training? Or do they typically try to get all their ACL guys in some of these games?  Or does it imply anything that they are in the 1st lineups? Any records from last years 1st lineups?Apologies in advance for not being more educated on this aspect.

Last season Y-Rod was in the first lineup and he started in Carolina. Ordoñez was in the bench and spent the season in the ACL

Looks like guys are still being shuttled from one team to the next kind of randomly still.

How soon before we actually know who will be playing where to start the season?

Last year, the Sounds announced their roster 1 day before their opener, while Biloxi, Wisconsin and Carolina announced 4 days before their openers.

We can usually figure out position player placements to some degree by the ST lineups, but pitching is always a mystery.

Hope some of you had a chance to watch the Breakout game yesterday. It was only one over-hyped contest but, none the less, there were several things to take away of note imho.

It was fun to watch Jesus Made, Luis Pena and Jose Anderson. Anderson with a HR was nice to see. Made and Pena made some hard contact, and both were caught stealing. Otherwise it was typical outings for Lara, Yophery and Bitonti. Even Adams had his HBP and sac fly.  Solid game by Matt Wood with a double and a caught stealing.

Miz was not so sharp - his control continues to be his barrier to breaking through. I didn't watch Letson's innings (internet was down). But did watch Wichrowski who was typical for him, big time stuff, but may not control it enough which leads to walks and full counts. I was impressed with Hardin and Hostetler. I watched Hardin's debut in Carolina and he seemed more in command or just knew what he had to do, and Hostetler has some intriguing raw stuff, I thought they said his last pitch was 97. Yoho was just Yoho.

Fun game, outside of the 1st and 3rd innings for the pitching side. I would have to watch again, but the pitching was better with Wood (and even Miller) in the game which was either a catching effect, or due to the pitchers that were out there (Yoho, Hardin and Hostetler).

And here are the lineups from today’s MILB ST games. I'm looking forward to seeing some 4-squad days (expected from tomorrow), so Jadher Areinamo can be at the correct level:

Can you or someone remind me what the colors mean again?

I figured blue is switch hitting, but I didn't realize that Blake Burke and I am assuming Hedbert Perez were swith hitters? And Jheremy Vargas was a right handed hitter last year, so that is throwing me off.

Also the light blue for DiTuri (who is switch hitter right?) and Hall (who is definitely LHH)?

Anyway, no worries, as I am clearly scrutinizing this way too much.

But minor league games can't come soon enough 😉

My main takeaways:

(1) Hostetler is indeed filthy and there is indeed a set of reasons he was originally in the transfer portal to Oregon State before signing on with the Brewers.

(2) Hardin with a Five-Pitch Mix?! IF he can dial in more control (significantly lacking in 2024's short stint) this is considerable development.

(3) Really refreshing to see Jose Anderson swing the lumber. That is a very natural swing with flexibility, repeatability, and innate power. It kind of answered my own questions about his late 2024 DSL season power drought and mini slump. If we recall, he was essentially shelved the last week or so during that DSL 1 failed playoff push (they stacked the Uno roster before the Orioles Orange pulled away). I wondered at the time if that was injury, rest, fatigue or getting others more opportunity. I think it's reasonable to seriously wonder aloud if he doesn't just start in Carolina, after all.

Edit to Add (I can't believe this wasn't #1 originally)

(4) Holy simplified swing and leg lift Luke Adams! Whoa! Fascinating.

BTW for those of you unable to watch any of the Breakout Game, here's an extended look of RHP Tyson Hardin with RHP Craig Yoho interviewing and discussing his outing. Includes a swinging K to a lefty on a really nice inside slider working off heat and Wood's CS throw to 2B to end the frame:

I don’t think we’ve seen or heard anything about OF Braylon Payne since some late game MLB action on March 1.

That may be something to keep an eye on.

Low-A Carolina commences its season on Friday, April 4.

Mentioned on the broadcast he was slated to start in LF last night over Jose Anderson, but was a late scratch with "tightness" I believe they said.

Would be fun to get some boxscores from these games or at least a little bit of analysis but you just don't hear anything.  Looking forward to the start of the regular season.

Does anyone know if the full Spring Breakout game is available anywhere to watch? MLB took it down within hours and only the condensed game remains.

Thanks.

Welcome to Brewer Fanatic! Let's see if we can't figure that out for you. But, be prepared, this may be a case of they shifted all these replays to Condensed Games.
