Picked up a young LB from Kansas, Jon Jon Kamara.  Played in 11 games as a redshirt freshmen last season, sounds like the KU staff was really high on him.  Going to be tough bringing in LB talent with Posa and Catalano here.  #12 LB per 24/7.

Got a WR from Oklahoma State, Shamar Rigby.  Their QB play was a disaster last year, too, so can't read much into his stats.  Sounds like he has upside - 6'3", 190.  #36 WR in the portal per 24/7; for reference, Trech Kekahuna is #38.

Sitting at #5 in the portal rankings after the first weekend, but it's early.  10 in the fold so far, another 12-15 likely coming.

Some of the numbers I have heard being paid for some of these QB’s are insane.  A friend of mine who works at Texas Tech says Sorsby is getting more than the rumored $4mm.

Got another CB from Florida State, was a 4-star recruit in 2024 but hasn't seen the field much outside of special teams.

It's nuts.  Basically, for a QB, unless you project to be a 1st or 2nd round pick, you'll make more money playing college ball.

Up to 12 transfers so far. I really like the QB, RB and C on offense.   Kamara on D is crazy athletic and could be an impact guy as well. Long way to go to fill out the roster though.

One somewhat surprising thing so far for me is the number of guys with multiple years of eligibility left. I felt they may go for more older/proven guys given CLFs job status

I noticed that too. That's a good thing; theoretically. The qualifier of course is all these guys could be just as apt to be one-year players as they are to stick around. Hopefully the latter.

It looks like they had a productive weekend. I applaud those of you here that are keeping close tabs on it. Hoops is one thing, but I can't stomach wanting to keep up with the movement of 20, 30 or more people on a FB roster, year after year. So thanks. 👍

Cornerback #3, Javan Robinson, formerly a starting CB at Arizona State the last two years.

So, CB, starting QB, OC, TE, and RB likely filled.  Another 12 or so to go.  3 WRs, 2 OL, 2 DL, 2 LB, 2 S, maybe a Hunter Simmons-like 3rd string QB.  I think they let Carter Smith be the #2.

I'm hearing some stupid numbers for WRs.  One of the ODU WRs that played with UW's new QB just committed to LSU, so UW probably got significantly outbid for his services.

In the least surprising move ever, CB-Geimere Latimer Jr has reached an agreement with West Virginia.  They just as well might have announced this a few weeks ago.

UW lands former Arkansas OL Blake Cherry.  Cherry, as a true freshman, played every game last year on special teams (I assume that to mean the FG unit).  #66 OT in the 2025 class,

I don't know much of anything about college football (tho, I can get excited watching highlight reels post Packers draft! 😆) BUT, this seems like a good get for the Badgers?

Big time get for the Badgers. Not usually the type of player that is attainable for UW. He was very highly rated out of high school and projected to compete for a starting spot at OSU next season.

Just got Junior Poyser, a 6'1" 310 lb DT from Buffalo.  Redshirt SO last season, 31 tackles, 5.5 sacks, 1 forced fumble.  All MAC 3rd Team.  Good get.

Missed out on Adam Trick from the same conference, who still appears in Davis Heinzen's nightmares.  Committed to the Texa$ Tech Red Raider$$$..

Couple of OL visiting UW.  Former top-100 recruit Lucas Simmons from Florida State is scheduled to visit,

Edit: fun fact, Lucas Simmons' hometown is Stockholm, Sweden.  He may feel more at home in Madison than Tallahassee.

Boom!

Also got USC transfer RB Bryan Jackson.

I do not follow college/minor league football nearly as closely as I used to. I don't know any of these guys but it seems like people are excited about them.

The floodgates have really opened up in the last 5-7 days, wow.

I'd love to know what kind of money they're throwing around relative to the other folks competing for these guys.

So they'd still like a couple more WRs, right?

Going to be a very different team next year

Nowadays, we can save that quote & most schools can post it every February, right? That turns off many traditional CFB fans, myself included. But on paper this certainly looks like their best portal effort since this era has started.

I think retaining Posa & Catalano is huge.

Another WR (SE Louisiana):

Experienced pass catching vet coming off his best season

Quote

Domingeaux has one season remaining after a productive three seasons with the Lions, registering 106 catches for 1,512 yards and 14 touchdowns in 36 games. Most of that total came from this season, as Domingeaux had 52 receptions for 852 yards and 11 touchdowns. His touchdown total was two more than Wisconsin had all last season.

Never know how things shake out with the roster and who is still coming and going but it appears as though there may be just a couple returning starters on offense and defense combined. (Posa, Catalano, Mandell?). That seems like more than the average turnover even is this day of player movement. Also something this program probably needs.

Seems positive right now. I'll be interested to see where things stand once the dust settles.

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Yeah, I would say so.

He never played due to injury, but Kevin Heywood was penciled in as the starting LT. So if he comes back strong that would be looked at as a good retention (not that he would've received portal attention given he sat out the entire year).

Really wish Brunner would've stuck around.
