Priester is doing a nice job keeping the hitters off balance with his change.

Effectively wild.

Hard to hit when it's rarely in the zone and all over the place.

Ortiz hasn't been the same guy since coming off the IL last year. Maybe pitchers just figured him out. Either way, was hitting .269 with an .817 OPS at that time but just .202 and .591 since.

He hit .239 last year. He can get his numbers up pretty quick with a few good games.

Think we can end the Ortiz at SS experiment.

That’s not an experiment, he’s our SS.  His glove still plays and we have nobody better to replace him with.

A good time to pull him. This another very good outing for him.

He fought through it but this wasn’t really good…….no command

I don't know if he did anything in the fall but he really needs to spend an off-season reworking his hitting mechanics with a top shelf instructor.

4 innings giving up one run. He leaves two runners, but that's not bad. It's not great, but it's not bad.

They can replace him with Turang and put any warm body at 2B.

I do think Turang at ss and Durbin at 2B makes the most sense overall. Either way, we need an upgrade somewhere.

Could we conceivably give Ortiz an off day? I realize it seems like several years since we have given our everyday SS a day of rest.

Who would play SS Monisterio?

I think there’s zero chance that happens. Gain a little offense and give up as much on defense.

Turang at SS, Durbin 2B and Capra 3B for a day.

I think they would just plug Capra in at short for one day.

Capra would be the backup at SS.   Don't think they want to chance Turang's health given the arm issues in spring training.

The long term option is to root for Cooper Pratt to enter the mix sometime next year.
