You could say the same thing in a less antagonistic way. Like, "Even if Ortiz isn't doing well this year, let's not forget that Burnes isn't even in Baltimore anymore, so calling this a bust is wrong in my view." Bonus points for using stats to back up your opinione.g., collective WAR of DL Hall and Ortiz vs Burnes' 2024 season.

And why would I change how I put it seems that u thought it was being an antagonist bro relax my point is still valid they don't have burnes and we still have hall n Ortiz 😂

How is burnes  pitching with Baltimore that's right he isn't there so to say we lost the trade is wrong bro

It doesn't matter where Burnes is pitching now. The return on a trade for a staff ace was perpetually injured DL Hall and, so far, a light-hitting infielder. The galling part is that the Orioles' org was overflowing with talent when the trade was made.

Burnes put up 4.4 rWAR in his one year with the Orioles. And that was the most optimistic take on his season with 3.5 bWAR and 3.7 fWAR.

Ortiz came in at 3.1 WAR last year so he already covered most of that value in year one.

Another win or two out of Ortiz or Hall over the next five years and the Brewers will be on the right side of the ledger.

You aren't getting Lawler unless the Brewers give up something like Pratt, Misiorowski and Henderson. Or Pratt and Contreras. No sense in talking about elite prospects unless you are willing to make a huge offer.

So you can predict the future its our win since we have both for more years than Baltimore does

Wondering if they might give Daz Cameron a shot.  Bit older but is really hitting with pop down in Nashville.  There would need to make room for him on the 40 man though.  DFA Collins and option him to AAA.

Cameron is out of options, which means he'd be exposed if he's the guy to go when Perkins returns. Otherwise yeah, I'd have made that move yesterday.

Unless they'd consider Mitchell doing a reset at AAA.

Some of the talk on here is centered around comfort level at a particular position, and there's merit to that. In that vein, I think moving a platinum-glove 2B who's hitting around .340-.350 to SS, even if he's played there before, is not a good idea. I know they considered it in March, but hopefully the bit of discomfort he felt put the permanent brakes on that.

Ortiz needs to be optioned.  Don't care who replaces him and how bad they'll be. Just need to send a message to the players on this team and to Joey.  Pratt and Made are closing in.  Those 2 continue looking better than Ortiz in the minors, no one else to blame but himself when they get the call.

Made? He just turned 18 and is in A ball. He is in no way closing in.

Think it was a Baseball America article that made a suggestion, Made was possibly better than Chourio.  He'll be in AA before year is done as long he doesn't crater these next 2 months.  100+ PAs in A ball at 874 OPS.  18y. Not 21-23

Okay but AA is not the majors. If he gets sent to Biloxi by year end, what does that have to do with Ortiz? Pratt is at least a potential longshot option.
