Both DSL squads down 2-0 early, but Kenny Fenelon is back atop the lineup for the Gold club.

Catcher Jonathan Rangel hit his third triple of the young season already.

One hour, 34-minute mark - it’s time for another @Spencer Michaelis “Minor League Sandbox”.

But enjoy the full pod, also.

If you are going solely for prospect discourse, I'd personally start sooner - ie in the 1 hr 20 minute mark. Spencer takes some listener questions on prospects within there with some fun Spencer insights. Fwiw.

It’s obviously very early so a lot can change, but so far the DSL class of 2025 is not looking very strong. Any class following the 2024 class was likely going to be a step back so this isn’t all too surprising. That 2024 class might be looked back as one of the best DSL classes ever.

Yeah… like you said, It’s definitely not going to match up to 2024 but Antunez has very real buzz as a legit dude down there from people who watched him in the exhibitions and workouts and everything else, despite a slow start in his first week. Also think it’s always a good reminder that Chourio was 0 for his first 19 in the DSL. Sometimes you get Pena and Made who explode immediately, sometimes it’s more like Chourio and takes some time to really get going.

Fenelon is off to a solid start. Chavez is doing well. Mayorquin had a good first start. Leonard Rijo has had a good first week (and despite his size did get $225k to sign, so a pretty decent bonus guy), Barrios has done a solid job. I think it could still be a strong class, just not quite the ceiling of, like you said, what might end up being one of the greatest international classes ever signed.

Zona Crew trailing 7 to 5 top of seven.

Multi time reachers to this point include...

Pedro Ibarguen (single, walk)
Tyler Black (HOMER, two singles)
Roderick Flores (three walks)
Kevin Ereu (two singles, walk)

Posted

& Freider Rojas (who walked earlier) joins the multi time reacher club with an RBI double to make it a 7 to 6 deficit.

& Pedro Ibarguen follows up with a double of his own to tie things up at 7 each.

Yeesh.  The line mightn't look so hot for Misiorowski with his third walk and almost another HBP earlier in the game, but this strike zone is so tight. He's nibbling a little and not getting many calls on the edges but this isn't a return to the wild Miz days of 2024. Not by a long shot

Also really heavy use of the curve so far and I am HERE for it. The slider and changeup are a little underused but the way the curve sets up the high fastball and the chase is a thing of beauty. Such a wonderful pitch for him

Wilken still looking out of sorts somewhat. Whiffs on a hanging meatball slider/cutter first pitch, then repeats that on a similar pitch on the outer third. Takes a high fastball and then a half hearted swing at another meatball slider in zone for a four pitch strikeout

Misiorowski is out of the game for Nittoli. Hard not to believe, with two seven innings contests today, that at under 70 pitches the Brewers are being cautious of workload for both him and Logan Henderson as we approach the half way point of the season

Coleman Crow is absolutely dealing through 2 innings. Just a dominant 2 innings. 4 K's through 2 whiff a bunch of swing and miss and called strikes.
