Pallante has the highest ERA* of any starting pitcher** the Brewers have faced since May 19th, almost four weeks.

(*Yes, I know ERA isn't the best stat, I'm just picking it because it's the easiest to determine what the pitcher had going into the game against MIL.)

(**On May 22nd, the Brewers faced a pitcher making his season debut, so technically his ERA going into the game was 0.00.  On May 20th, the Orioles opened with Keegan Akin; not a starter, but his ERA was 3.27 going into the game.)

Point being, over the last four weeks, the Brewers have faced a lot of good pitchers.

ERA is a fine stat. It is true it's looked down upon by people who use words like "peripherals" to talk baseball.

ERA is a fine stat for communicating how good a pitcher and his defense are at preventing runs.

The peripherals tell us more about the pitcher's individual abilities.

I don't look down on either, they both work in conjunction.

Like Bryse Wilson has a 3.42 ERA with the Brewers and that's better than Freddy Peralta's 3.68 ERA with the Brewers. But we all know Peralta is a better pitcher than Wilson which is most succinctly communicated by Freddy having a 3.68 FIP versus a 4.68 FIP for Bryse.

That call by the 3rd base ump is awful lmao

It's funny because I thought he was safe and was wondering why Murphy was challenging. Stupid me.

Chourio looks at the first pitch right down the middle and ends up striking out.

[blue]He should swing at the first pitch more. [/blue]

Quintana continuing the 20 pitch per inning pace from his last start.

Getting any kind of decent hitter in a trade would materially help this team more than any team in mlb

Um, we just got Andrew Vaughn...

I’m going with my own wins against replacement stat.    If we found a third baseman and shortstop who just could hit adequately we would go from a 78 win team to 89 wins or more

I’ve calculated it

Thank god we don’t have to cheer for the other Contreras. Such a prick

Looked like he said, "Come on, b****" to Hoskins or someone on the Brewers' bench. What a jerk. He stepped back into Durbin's way.

The offense progressed from strikeouts to weak grounders

I wouldn't be surprised if this is the best Pallante has pitched in his entire life. His stuff is up today and he's locating like an 80 grade command guy. Basically everything has been on the edges or corners today.
