Last time the Brewers had the best record in baseball this late in the season was 1982. I love Bob Uecker.

Best record in the league. I bet ESPN moves us up to #8 or something in their power rankings..

Well.    Our launch angle ranking just isn’t good enough.

To the "can Joey Ortiz OPS 700" question from earlier in the thread...

His seasonal triple slash was at 170/226/216 through 166 PA on May 21st.

Over 165 PA since then (before today) his triple slash was at 260/315/420.

He's been OPS-ing over 700 for the last two months.

Of course that doesn't guarantee that he will keep OPS-ing over 700 from here on out, but he had an OPS of 726 last year, Steamer projects him for a 694 rest of season, ZiPS projects him for a 677 rest of season.

Odds are he hits a lot closer to a 700 OPS rest of season than he does to the 442 OPS he posted to start it.

And in a purely non-statistically driven vein, let me say right here & now that any analytics that prove that Joey Ortiz isn't an elite defensive shortstop can eat my shorts.

Perk having a bad day 3 K's.

He's had a couple knocks (one a bunt) so far, but I would be pleasantly surprised if he doesn't struggle some due to the long layoff & little or no spring training. That said, having him available on this roster is going to pay dividends even after Frelick returns. Being able to call on someone who can play an elite CF is valuable.
