Maybe the Brewers should try to keep winning by so much that they only have to use Megill once a week. Seems to work out pretty well for all involved.

I’m worried that we are going to play a some games like this with a lot of players sitting out

It's the Brewers' way when it comes to position players - find a way to play a full week hamstrung and then IL a couple guys.

Just saw online you need less than 50 innings pitched to be eligible for rookie of the year and Priester had 50.1.

Not sure if that’s accurate, but that really sucks if he missed it by .1 innings.

This team, this collection of players, is 24 games above .500!  You couldn't have sold me on that for anything in the world.

but it's not like every guy suddenly forgot every piece of advice he gave

If I understand:

  • Priester pitched exactly 50.0 IP in 2023
  • Baseball Reference claims Priester's rookie limits were exceeded during 2024, so perhaps it needs to exceed 50 IP
  • Priester pitched 49.2 IP in 2024
  • Priester was rostered for at least 46 days in 2024 (excluding September), versus the 45 day limit.  Could have been an extra day or three if he wasn't called up/sent down on the first or last days he pitched.  So this must be what removed rookie status.  Possibly by a very narrow margin as well, though.

Exactly. It's nice to be able to win in different ways.
