Did it with Burnes. Did it with Hader. Did it with Williams. Going back further, did it with Gallardo.

Position players are a little different.

Those guys didn't have as much of a steal of a contract either

Hoskins almost has no use for this team but I think i would rather have him dh instead of Contreras in the future.    But if he starts stealing at bats from Vaughn the brewers deserve to blow it this year

That just makes him more valuable in a trade.

We have a plethora of SP options though and that wasn't the case with SS options.

I highly doubt we go without Peralta or Woodruff in the rotation next season. Peralta is the for sure bet if they can't re-sign Woody

I'm sure they'll listen to offers but teams don't seem to offer much for one year of control anymore (unless you're the Padres)

It's been the right call with the pitchers, IMO - to me the injury risk is great enough to pull the trigger on those type of trades to keep replenishing the farm system and bringing in MLB-ready players who fit how the Brewers play now.

The mistake, if you'd call it that, is trading Hader mid-season and not in the offseason - but i still like the potential surplus value Gasser is going to bring this team...not to mention it's still a root cause of getting Contreras here.

Shelby should be a nice addition to the pen.  Zastryzny re-starting his rehab assignment.  Gasser headed to Nashville.  Will be good to work some of them in and get the bullpen regulars a little rest.

Ashby needs rest bad.   McGee is wasting a spot.    We need guys that Murphy feels comfortable with

The Cubs hitting has fallen hard. Tucker has been bad the last month. So has Suzuki. PCA still has a solid OPS the last month but is striking out over 1/3 of the time he steps to the plate.

At some point the August schedule will become a grind - it just has to....glad the Brewers are taking care of business now so they build a bit of buffer within the division, and also in turn with the rest of the NL.

Pitching help in terms of mlb-caliber depth is on its way - keep the arms fresh if you can and hope Chourio is fully back in a few weeks...I'm starting the Collins for ROY push right now!

I keep thinking this team with its low slugging % is like a typical Badgers buckets team, eventually they will go cold and slump for a couple weeks. But is just doesn’t happen, we are 8-2 in last ten and none of them involve the 11 game streak anymore. Fun times, I am about as disinterested in Packer camp as I can remember. Night game on FS 1 tomorrow, I don’t see many TV games so glad to see that.

Saying he's been struggling lately is not a hot take. That's undeniable. That's the thing I always say about stats. You can make them say anything you want.

Uh huh.

Or you could interpret them into Peralta being a top 20 pitcher in baseball (also undeniable).

There were signs of that even before the AS break - week to week the runs scored were high for the Cubs as a team, but they were feast or famine game to game.  Their bench limitations are catching up to them a bit, too - key guys seem to need more time off than they get, and of course some of what they did first few months of the year collectively just wasnt sustainable.

Yep, but when all the Brewers give us to gripe abouts since the trade deadline is wins, I guess we have to find negatives in hard to reach places

That hasn't been a problem.

Here’s my thoughts on Peralta

he’s the fourth starter in the playoffs.   But then I don’t know if i want him pitching a do or die win

so maybe start him game one so we can overcome his 4 inning mess against a good team

But then you might burn a bunch of relievers for the next games

who knows.   Maybe his top 20 pitcher thing qualifies as some sort of Hilton honors rewards that entitles him to get a bigger strike zone to throw his crappy two strike pitches too

To be witnessing this historic Brewers run and to now potentially have an elite splitter coming into the high leverage relief arsenal is essentially my version of MLB Valhalla. I have wanted a splitter of Shelby Miller's caliber in the Brewers Pen for yearrrrrrs. For many many long years. This is my shining moment. 😅

I purchased some Govee smart/LED patio lights off of Amazon back in March during Prime Days. I finally got them setup Friday evening while grilling some steaks before the first Nationals game with alternating blue/yellow colors. I haven’t turned them off since. My wife finally asked me today why I haven’t turned them off and she understood immediately. These things will stay on until they become bad juju.
