As hard as some of us (myself included) have been on Patrick today, if Vaughn makes a clean throw to 1st the first time through the order, it’s 3-3 and no one is really that upset with him.

Not sure if the stats back this up or not, but it sure feels like Perkins has been struggling lately.

Yeah, I thought so too. I also don't have the stats to back it up; he just isn't passing the eye test.

Glad you said it cuz he seems to be a fan favorite on this board.

Can't count this team out no matter the lead

MLB.com has Perkins at .200/.310/.200 in his last 7 games: 5-for-25 with 3 BB/9 K.

So scuffling a little bit. Probably got about as much production out of him as you can expect from a 4th/5th outfielder filling in for an injured starter. Will be big to get Chourio back from the IL.

Darn it. You feel good about what we’re doing, but we’re also leaving runs out there every time.

Just a little frustrating because this game is a bounce or two away from being an 8-3 lead for us, but it’s not like we haven’t had a game or two the other way in our favor from time to time

So now that this is winnable, do you run Patrick out there another inning? I say let him go until any trouble - still want to keep the pen as fresh as possible, but it's a harder choice now.

Edit: Guess not

Murphy needs to tread carefully here. You can't throw the farm at this game. The Cubs are, and are barely hanging on. Play this conservatively and hope for magic but this is the one we can most afford to drop.

Well, he was on bereavement leave, so it's understandable if he's been a bit distracted lately
