There aren’t many games where you can say the brewers are decent size underdog.   This is going to be one of them

Perkins Should probably sit for awhile

Perkins already sat for a while when he was out.  Probably the reason he is now lost at the plate.

Sitting him for another few games could help, or it could hurt.  He needs to find his mojo again, and I'm not sure it can be found on the bench.  Plus, if he sits, what does that mean, more at bats for Bauers?  UGH.

Not sure what the answer is with this guy, but it sucks we are in this situation.

Perkins, Monasterio, and Siegler should not be getting regular at bats at all, but it's the situation we are in...

We need to get healthy and our starting pitchers need to go deeper into games.  They are going to wreck our bullpen.

Then Miz needs to be sent down and woody needs to taken off a leash at some point.    I don’t know if that will happen.

Regarding Woodruff, there’s a devil on one shoulder telling me to overuse him as much as possible right now (knowing his Brewer career almost certainly ends when the season does). But the angel on the other shoulder kinda knows that’s a bad idea.

We don’t gain anything if Woodruff has a setback on September 24. 🤷‍♂️

I trust Woodruff will balance emptying the tank without wrecking himself.

Normally a player who is optioned has to remain in the minors for 10 days, but I believe that since Patrick was recalled only for the doubleheader as the 27th man he was exempt from that 10 day rule.  Good roster management by Arnold here getting a few innings from Carlos Rodriguez with both Myers and Patrick down in the minors.  There are a lot of moving parts when you play 19 games in 18 days.

That is correct.

Technically Patrick was not optioned to Nashville last week.  He was “returned” to Nashville after his one day stint

Turang is back.

Collins out, Contreras at DH. Yelich, Lockridge, and Frelick in the OF

Yeah...I was and am curious how the language works for all of that. I go to the brewers.com website and use the transactions tab under the roster menu and it said "optioned" but that didn't seem quite right to me. Is there a better place to see transactions?  It seems like it can't get more official than the mlb/brewers website.

Chourio has played 2 games with Nashville.

0 for 7 with a walk. Hopefully ready for a return sometime in the Arizona series.

What will be interesting is what do they do after Patrick starts today?

Send him back down for Yoho or McGee because you don’t want to be a bullpen arm short in this brutal stretch?

if you do then what happens in Friday when you need another starter and Patrick can’t be recalled ?

Could be Gasser Friday?

I can’t see them keeping Patrick up through Friday ……seems impossible to do with the state of our bullpen to be an arm short down there.

Patrick goes back down after today for Myers and then Gasser starts Friday and comes up in place of Grant Anderson. That would be my guess

I would guess that Friday's starter is the ubiquitous "TBD".  If Gasser looks great and feels great and is all systems go at AAA and Patrick is a dud then perhaps they option Patrick tomorrow and bring up Yoho or McGee until Friday and plan to start Gasser Friday but that all seems unlikely.  I bet they stick with Patrick and option Grant Anderson for one of those guys if needed instead.

Myers is in AAA until August 30th due to that 10 day rule.

27th Man

Here is the rule. The announcement I saw about Patrick said he was returned to Nashville, and that word is used in the rule. But that might not be an official designation.

Regardless, you were right about the result, whether he was returned or optioned subject to an exception. Use of the word returned in official transaction reports might be  helpful to note the exception.
