This had me reliving nightmares of that bad Arizona loss early in the year. I'm glad today was not a repeat of that. The hitting really carried them today. I really wish this were an easier win, but I'll take it!

Noticed they seem to clear out all the fans from behind the dugout’s first 10 rows during the postgame Sophia talk on the field.  Is this a new?

I wonder what the Players Union would agree to in order to get rosters to expand to 30 for September.

Or maybe just shorter stints in the minors required for September.

Nice to see Miller earn his stripes tonight. Hope he can be a big piece

Huge spots in the 8th and 9th. Both getting Marte to strand the go-ahead runs in the 8th, and getting out of the leadoff single+misplay by Sal to put the lead runner at 2nd to start the 9th, were crucial to both getting out of here with a win and not burning more of the pen.

Remember when Doug Melvin would bring up like 3 or 4 players and then complain when other teams brought up 10 back when the September roster limit was 40?  It was like clockwork there for a while and I always wondered why the reporters he'd complain too never asked him why he didn't just call up 10 guys too.

Nobody is getting a few days off except for the 1 and 2 seeds. Everyone has to stop acting like the Brewers are the first team in world history that has to tax their pitchers in September. It's all part of the grind and being the last one standing.

I was just responding to a comment with a point of fact.

But, since you brought it up.how many teams are in the middle of playing 19 games in  18 days and 25 games in 25 days?

Nobody gets a few days off in a row except for the All Star break, but 25 games in 25 days with only 1 off day is not the norm.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

40 was too many. 28 is not enough. I don’t know why they went from one extreme to the other. I miss being able to see some young players get their feet wet in September, most contenders just don’t have that luxury anymore with the 28 limit.

I’d like to see 30-32.

Player of the game

I’m thrilled that he gets credit for the W

I kind of see Melvin’s point a little, it’s a little unbalanced, our rosters from 26-40 were not the same as a team like the Dodgers with tremendous resources and depth, it really kind of changed the whole playing field in September compared to April-August baseball.

Nonetheless, 28 is too restrictive.

Thought you were breaking the news that the Packers traded for Parsons.  Don’t see anything credible online to back that up.

Yeah that sort of threw me off the tense brewer moment that was going on. If it really happens sure maybe it belongs in game thread but from what I could find nothing really new.

Massive Dub for the Crew tonight. You love to see the grit to pull that out. Some uncharacteristic defensive gaffes. A bullpen giving up runs. A game ripe to be given away. BUT, alas, it will go down as a 'W' and prevents further ground gained by anybody

Not that there is anything wrong with this comment but I often wonder if any pitcher gives a crap about their W/L record anymore. It’s so antiquated I’m surprised they even still track it as an official stat, except I guess for the purposes of tradition and a fun talking point for the likes of guys like Peralta and Skenes.

Regardless … Shelby was huge for the Brewers tonight

Not sure if the new stats guy track that or not - but he was key to our win
