I want the Cubs right off the bat.

I want to send them home crying their eyes out, and I want the fans screaming for Counsell's head on a platter.

I want to be the team to end their season.

I realize there is risk involved, it would be tough to take if they did what I want to do to them, but to me personally, I'm willing to risk it all to end their season!

Winning the division is great, puts them in their place until the playoffs, but I want to own them well into October, and I want to be the team that humiliates them.

No freaking mercy!

I am thinking about this ... BUT I like your Brewer love and Cubs/Counsell despising!

I think cherry picking the opponent is a total waste of energy. Philly and LA are juggernauts if they want to be. Chicago is high emotional stakes, but imagine the joy of winning. I don't get wanting to avoid that. You're the best or you aren't. Bring it on.

Understood.

From where I sit, we have had an incredible regular season. It's arguably the best in club history (and inarguably if we win twice more). Having to listen to all the media and fan narratives about Counsell making the right call by leaving, on top of all the usual "it doesn't work in October" takes, would really be unfair to this team. It always is. But especially so if it's an L to the Cubs, and I'm not sure the joy of winning would match that.

Everyone's going to perform their own calculus differently. But the media narratives especially would be such a bummer when they should be about how much this team has done with this roster and these resources.

Whoever it is is whoever it is. Let's play. Bring it on.

Chicago is the only fan base that could bring 25,000 fans to our stadium. I think Chicago plays up for Milwaukee and plays down to nearly every other opponent in the second half.

Sure would like to see Vaughn playing a lot more down the stretch.  Bauers is Bauers, I think he had his hot streak, and will now be the Bauers we all expect.

Murphy just can't stop himself.  Bauers is going to get a lot of meaningful at bats in the playoffs, isn't he?

Geez.

Collins continues to get disrespected.

Double Geez.

I haven’t seen any comments. I assume Collins is getting rest. Plus, his September OPS is .599.

Can't improve that OPS from the bench.

Also, Hoskins getting very few at bats isn't going to help us in the playoffs, assuming he is on the playoff roster.

Getting swept by the Padres would be a good thing.

Cub's getting eliminated in WC series in SD would be much better for us.

They will beat SD in Wrigley, and then they will come for us.

For the guy flexing their beer muscles saying, "I want them now"  (be careful what you wish for).

I would rather play SD than CHI any day of the week.

Scary thing i expect at least one playoff game to feature this exact lineup.

I haven’t checked but wouldn’t surprise me if we have a .700 winning percentage with this lineup in 2025 🙂

Minus Zimmermann

I would argue vehemently, and I think with a very strong case, that this is NOT the best team in Brewers history and that it has not had the best regular season, even if they do break the franchise record for wins in a season.

I don’t think it’s even close when you compare this team to the 1982 team that had two Hall of Famers in the prime of their careers plus two others near the end of their careers and added another in September for the stretch run. The competition in the AL East of 1982 was a lot tougher than what the Brewers have faced this year.

With Zimmerman on the mound, this feels like a play-to-stay-in-shape game.

Pretty much agree.  I'd be completely cool with that if they'd clinched the #1 spot already.

Fraidy cat!

Beer muscles?  lol  Beer muscles implies I had been drinking beer before making that statement, then acting like an arrogant fool.  Actually, no beer was consumed, and my opinion is just like, my opinion man...  ABIDE!

We swept Phillies in Philadelphia this year. We probably will be alright either way.

Mets overcome five run deficit to take 7-6 lead over Cubs. Chicago bullpen shaky plus costly error by Dansby Swanson.

I see Shaw made it back from his “friend’s” funeral to play for the Cubs tonight.

Maybe.  I'm old.  I've seen enough goat rodeos with the Brewers over the last 50 years to prefer they get every advantage it's humanly possible to get.
