Not really a fan of the broadcast (esp. watching on HBO since I cut the cord). The sound is definitely weird, as others have noted.

And I’m certainly not a fan of the way Darling calls the game. His comments remind me of Joe Buck in the 2018 NLCS, where he seemed simply baffled by the way the Brewers played the game. Comes off like a fogey at best, anti-Brewers partisan at worst (and I’m not someone who thinks Darling or Buck hates Wisconsin or whatever, but they don’t always do a very good job of combating the narrative, in my opinion).

I like listening to Darling. He knows things.

He's not trying to be funny about what he ate for snacks, like Levering.

Weird game. You would think Brewers have momentum going into game two but the last 7 innings of this one have the Cubs feeling pretty good.

Besides losing the game, I guess.

Moral victories dont add up to postseason wins - just ask the Reds

If the Brewers can win the next one, it's a hard hard road for cubs.

The Brewers offense going nearly dormant for their last five offensive innings lends to that feeling of weirdness.

Exactly, this whole "the Cubs have momentum" after getting their butts kicked is weird.

How much better would we be this year if we traded Willy for arms or bats?

This is the same conversation as the trade deadline. You can't argue one way without arguing the other one. What if we had traded adames for a third baseman that underperformed and we never ended up getting Durbin? That's probably a six-win swing and we are on the road right now in the playoffs. The what ifs go both ways..

No way am I trading Peralta.  MKE is a World Series Contender.  Freddy is their ace.  And they have the top minor league system.  Need to focus on this post season and next with the resources we have.

Brewers win! Heck of a game. I hope the offense is more like the first and second inning offense, rather than the last seven innings. And hoping good things for Jackson. I'm very concerned for him.

I agree. But I think as a rule a small market team must trade contract year talent for control over long term prospects.

Biggest hole in our system is also that there are no starting rotation pieces we should plan on for 2026.  Some talent in AA that could be ready for 2027.  With the youth and injury histories, the rotation looks very shaky without Freddy.

Why are we talking about trading Freddy when we are in the first round of the playoffs? That's for the off-season lol

Enjoy the playoffs

Nah, they just got thumped...  You are trying too hard for the negative spin that doesn't exist.

Always big to get a Game 1 win in a five-gamer.

Peralta did the #1 Starter job today. Offense scored early and often, but then almost ran away to hide. Gave up three homers, but they were all solo shots; two of them with the big lead.

Can't ask for much more, though the Chourio injury does cast a bit of a pall over the day.

A win! Nice! Suck it cubbies!

Fast start and never looked back. Unfortunate that we don't play tomorrow. Bats fell a sleep by the end but I'm not worried seeing as they had a 6 run lead. Hope Chourio is ok.

Pitching was great. Peralta did his job and did it fantastically well. Pen was solid. I don't mind a couple of solo shots when up by a lot.

Monday is Priester day! Time to start a new Priester winning streak!

There's no rules. Just World Series we're trying to win without knee-capping the future of the team.

This same rule would have us trading Peralta this upcoming off-season. That doesn't make much sense, does it?

You know who I bet is feeling pretty good right now? The team who only needs 2 more of these to win the series.

Yes, it make sense to trade Peralta, depending on what we get.
