Down 3 before I got home.  I know I was in the minority, but I will die on this hill.... Freddy should have started game 5 at home if needed.  If we lost tonight with our ace going at home in game 5 you still feel good about it.  Lose tonight with Freddy on the mound and that's probably the season.

Home - (9-1) 1.77

Road - (8-5) 3.71

Probably, that error will probably cost Freddy 15 pitches.  He's trending toward a short start and basically a bullpen day anyway.

We look like the .500 team that we were the last 1/4 of the season

We had a remarkable & memorable 80 game stretch in the middle of the season with a mediocre start & finish

This lineup & injury impacted rotation is not World Series caliber

It's astonishing to me the number of complaints I've heard about our offense. This is 100% on the guys pitching out of the gate. They've been nearly the only thing catastrophically wrong with this series. Of course there's been bad swings here and there, but 9, 7 and 3 is fine. We'd have won yesterday without that suckfest from Preister. Our offense or lack of dingers isn't why the wheels are falling off.

Four consecutive first inning bombs. Who the hell does that?

Worst version of team showing up in Chicago. This 4 game series has truly been a microcosm of there season. Very very good, not good enough. Hope the good shines through in the end

And in game 1 and game 2 we looked like the best team in the field. It’s baseball.

So fair to say that starting Freddy on short rest didn't work out.

Not short rest, no excuses.

By no means is this an insurmountable score, but you’ve got to start getting something going offensively, can’t continue to have all these unremarkable ABs with runners on.

Don't know... do you bring Freddy out for a 3rd inning?

Yes

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

Yeah. He’s already shot for this series and at the moment you have to start mapping out a bullpen elimination game.

You want to mess with the lineup? How about splitting up Perkins and Ortiz so every rally doesn't die.

No because lefty/righty matchup has 51.3% chance of not succeeding in the 5th inning if the Cubs bring in a RHP or something.

Yes. And a 4th and a 5th.

For real? This is undoubtedly our best team since 2019, probably 2018

Based on what? Just because of the win record? Notably a single hot streak long removed from?

Their starting pitching is horrid without Woodruff. Peralta is the ace and doesn’t go 6 innings half the time. It leaves almost no room for error and we need Peralta to be good and win those games.

The offense is good, but it also doesn’t exactly excel at the one thing that typically wins postseason ball, homers. Good hitters, pesky…but stringing a bunch of hits together becomes rare when you get to big boy pitchers (not what the Cubs have)
