I'm not into that for a bunch of reasons. Probably not the best thread to delve into why.

I do wonder why we need the video display, though. That just seems odd.

I'm willing to give it time to get a little better and more smooth too.

After seeing it in spring training, the video makes it fun for the crowd. In person you don't have the TV feed so you don't know if it was a ball/strike or how much it missed by.

Listen to the crowd reaction when the Mets won a challenge:

Probably for the fans as MLB umpires refuse to explain calls.

Sal Frelick is on a pace for 162 Home Runs.

Joey bats 1.000 and Miz gets 300 strikeouts.

NL Central teams checking the out of town scoreboard...

"Here we go again"

Would be nice to lead wire to wire this year.

Somehow I don't think that will happen...but it would be nice.

Our old pal Joey Wiemer went deep in the 2nd inning!  Washington might be in trouble if he's their opening day 5 hole hitter though.

Except for when they play scrubs like the Cubs

There goes Joey's perfect season, but he squared it up again.

Maybe he is just saving the hits for RBI chances?

For sure. There's definitely a theatrical element to it. That's why tennis did it too. Hawkeye knew the call instantly, but the electro-video display added a showmanship element.

To each their own. I'm just not super into jazzing up sporting events with computer animated graphics when we know the result, but I completely concede that there are advantages and that some people dig it.
