Tue. 4/14: Grand Opening in Wilson; Sounds Host the "WooSox" For First Time

Unlike Nashville and Biloxi, it appears that there will be significant newspaper (print and online) coverage of the Wilson Warbirds. Had been hoping for an introductory offer (one of those $1 for six-month types you occasionally see), but that's not the case. $17 a month is going to be too pricy for this Link Reporter, given my already-full subscription table elsewhere in life.

Listed starters for tonight include LHP Shane Drohan, RHP Manuel Rodriguez, RHP Travis Smith and RHP Tyler Renz. Sounds like 4 wins to me.

RHP Manuel Rodriguez aims for another solid start (5 IP, 1 R, 5 Ks in last outing) to lead AA Biloxi to a win in the first game of their 6-game series at Braves’ affiliate Columbus. 18-year old SS Jesus Made has a 7-game hitting streak.

Brock Wilken makes his first career Minor League start at first base and LHP Shane Drohan is back in AAA ball (after his MLB debut last Wednesday) to start for Nashville as they host Red Sox affiliate Worcester.

The Low-A Wilson Warbirds’ inaugural home game will have 19-year old RHP Tyler Renz (5 IP, 2 R (1 ER), 7 Ks in 2 games) on the mound, aiming to stifle the bats of Guardians’ affiliate Hill City. CF Jose Anderson and RF Handelfry Encarnacion have 10 of the team’s 15 extra-base hits.

Manuel Rodriguez let up a lead off BOMB to the first Columbus hitter of the game. High off the scoreboard.  Sheeesh

Well did not get to watch.  But looks like two wins. Wilson and Biloxi. Nice stat line by Renz. And good outing by M.  Rodriguez.

Nashville up so. Jett and Lara with multi hit games. Wilken hitless, but 2 BB

Yeah there was going to be movement with outfielders after the Jones promotion. Between the Berroa trade, the Black injury and now the Jones promotion ... Nashville was out of bodies to play out there.

I think O'Rae would help his chances immensely if he got comfortable in the grass. Keep hitting and become position flexible. Josh A same thing.

Gosh the major league one is frustrating to watch.
I think this one is probably more reader-friendly regardless of your device? Let me know.

Yeah,  Josh A may be out too. Don't believe he's played since (Friday??).

Early and strong injury bug through the system this year.

fwiw

on my phone, I prefer the first version even though you have to scroll horizontally to see the full stat line. If you could freeze the player name column that'd be even better. Not sure if that's possible though. Thanks for putting that together!

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Nice outing by Drohan.

Him being an option for the big-club either out of bullpen or rotation could allow the team to add starter arms to the BL pen, which should help stabilize.
