So, my eight year old convinced me to turn off yesterday's game in the eighth because I had been hogging the TV for most of the evening. What a bummer for me.

So you didn't watch Miz in favor of the TWolves two nights ago and you turned the game off in the 8th last night.

I'm sorry for saying it but I think you know what you need to do re: today's game Brock!

A Tale of Three Seasons...

0326 to 0406 (8 W - 2 L)
133 wRC+ | 6.8 R/G
90 ERA- | 105 FIP-
3.8 RA/G | 1 bullpen loss
[bats carry us to glory, pitching looks like a normal Brewers FIP beating kind of scenario]

0407 to 0425 (5 W - 11 L)
68 wRC+ | 3.7 R/G
103 ERA- | 88 FIP-
4.7 RA/G | 7 bullpen losses
[regression comes fast and strong for the bats, but the pitcher peripherals show some improvement]

0426 to 0509 (8 W - 3 L)
104 wRC+ | 5.8 R/G
54 ERA- | 61 FIP-
2.3 RA/G | 0 bullpen losses
[pitching across the board dominant allowing only 25 runs over the last 11 games, bats rounding into shape with the 2025 Brewers posting a 107 wRC+ and scoring 4.98 R/G for comparison]

What really stands out to me are the obvious BP hiccups in the middle 'season'. I've brought it up before, but that's the stretch that included back-to-back games where we scored a total of thirteen runs---and lost both due to BP & defensive failures. Let's hope the BP ship has been righted for good. Drohan & Fitzpatrick's work is going to be key after the left side of the 'pen behind Ashby has taken the injury hit.

I don't anticipate Patrick staying in the pen as I think that was just a scheduling opportunity to get him some innings there. However, if Henderson does replace him in the rotation and Patrick moves back into that high leverage multi-inning role that he has had success in.. with Shane seemingly taking to his role... The bullpen may have just shored itself up and we are a bat away from being pretty formidable.

I'd LOVE to see Patrick stay in the pen. It'll take some combo of health (Woodruff; magic dust sprinkled on Priester) and/or a Crow or Gasser emerging. For now yeah, I think it was just an opportunity created by off days before & after this series.

Henderson isn’t going to last long. He’s throwing a lot of pitches and they are getting some good cuts and making good contact.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Rengifo looks jacked and if you took a look at him you’d expect him to be cranking homeruns and then when you watch his actual ABs you wonder why he’s even on the roster.

At what point does Mitchell’s K rate become too high to keep playing every day? His BABIP is coming back down to earth, walks becoming less frequent, and keeps striking out. Have to wonder how long his leash is.

Probably longer than Rengifo, Perkins, Ortiz, Black, Hamilton and Frelick

The bottom of this roster really needs a bit of a makeover, at least for awhile. Too many guys who have had too many opportunities and just still aren’t cutting it and too many guys in AAA who have at least earned a shot for awhile.

When we actually call up some combination of Jett, Lara, and Leonard so the options aren't Mitchell or four players destined for the Atlantic League.

True enough. Mitchell getting optioned or benched for a bit wouldn’t be the worst thing.

However, the current OF depth chart is Blake Perkins, so we don’t really have anything to work with.
