Murphy is not interested

Not really sure why we're just letting Okert have every good matchup and letting the 'Stros get him through 2 innings.

EDIT: Maybe we're just trying to get Ashby a shot at win #10, I guess?

I love Sal but - is it me - or does he have the softest contact of anyone who looks like they swing as hard as he does?

Except it only looks like he swings hard. One of the worst bat speeds in all of MLB. His max effort simply isn’t good enough to produce results. 2025 was the outlier season for Sal.

He just looks like he swings really hard.  His swing is trash.

Frelick looks like a little league player at the plate and is hitting like one.  If you ever wondered what a little league player would do at the plate in an MLB game you have your answer with Frelick.

For the record I know his swing is garbage but man does it look high effort ! Haha 😂

For the warts this team has - it’s an absolute wonder we are in this position! What a time to be a Brewers fan.

Swinging to hard actually slows down the bat because the rest of the body is out of sync then.

At some point, you'd think someone would tell him to develop a beautiful, powerful swing.

Correct.  His helmet almost always flys off so his head is moving and he almost always goes to a knee which basically zaps any power.  I’m not a MLber but I’ll die on the hill that his swing is garbage

Yet we keep benching Vaughn. Just play the best players. Murphy has trouble with this concept.

These past few years have been wonderful.

The team needs to find an injury for Frelick to send him down and sit him for a bit.  He just plain out sucks right now and isn't helping the team at all.

Ashby for the 8th so we can take the lead and then Uribe for the 9th and then drop the appeal?

California has Angels in the outfield and we have vultures in the bullpen.

It honestly looks like he got it in his head this year to swing inside out more often to maximize contact and use his speed.  The problem is that it leaves him behind pitches and even when he's on time he's not dropping the head of the bat in the same place in the hitting zone (which is consistent with Trueblood's article/analysis earlier this week), and his swing speed suffers, which robs him of exit velocity. The HR totals last year were pretty clearly outliers.  But with an approach similar to last year his BABIP would be nearer his career norms and he'd have a lot more value than he's shown this season thus far.

He can be optioned. No injury necessary.
