Sun. 7/5: "Lookout" Chattanooga, You're Not Going to Hold the Shuckers Down Two Games in a Row

On the main boards we had talked earlier this year about what numbers constitute a real 3TO player... and arbitrarily came up with 50% roughly as a watermark.

Schwarber leads baseball in HR and K this year and his HR/BB/K ratio to his PA is 56.5% .... which is crazy.

In Appleton this year Fischer was at 59.8% and in his 15 games in Biloxi that has climbed to 63.9%.

Special stuff. However you want to define special.

19-year old RHP Tyler Renz has gotten 9 days of rest after his last outing (3 IP, 7 R (6 ER), 3 Ks) and now leads Low-A Wilson as they try to clinch a 4-2 home series win over Kannapolis. 2B Juan Martinez has a 48-game on-base streak dating back to last year.

The AAA Sounds also have a chance to clinch a 4-2 series win, in their case at home against Jacksonville. LHP Thomas Pannone makes his 2nd start of the series (5.1 IP, 4 R, 3 Ks on Tuesday). 3B Jett Williams’ hitting streak is now 8 games.

Josh Knoth only two innings for Wisconsin (31 pitches).

I saw that and remembered he went 5 innings on Tuesday, so maybe just a limit given he is coming back? I can try to log in to watch later.

Knoth looked fine in the 2nd inning.  Threw a couple nice curves and a 96 mph fastball to the last batter. This was confirmed by the announcer - planned short rest start for Knoth.

Even without Made and Adamczewski in the lineup tonight, Biloxi's offense just keeps rolling. Burke is having himself a big night in his first game back in a week.

Anyone know the brewers minor league record for homers in a season?

Let's go for the all time record!

Joe Bauman holds the record for the most home runs in a single minor league baseball season, hitting 72 home runs for the Roswell Rockets in 1954

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

The other day I brought up Sacramento, a Brewer AAA farm team in the 1970s that had a ridiculously short porch in LF. Bill McNulty hit 55 HRs there in 1974. He played in a total of nine games at the big league level, none with Milwaukee, and went 1 for 27.

He was a third baseman, so maybe if Joey Ortiz doesn't start hitting better............nah.

Josh Exley (The X-Files): In the famous season six episode, Fox Mulder discovers that the legendary 1940s slugger Josh Exley was an alien from Roswell, New Mexico. Exley was so good that Arthur Dales jokingly speculated all the greatest players—including Babe Ruth and Willie Mays—were aliens

RHP Peyton Niksch is fast becoming my favorite Brewers undrafted gem. He deserves more shine me thinks. Really nice to see Meneses debut with two scoreless, hitless, walkless, 2 K frames!
