Kind of like a Jake Bauers defensive profile, corner utility guy.

Starts in the field so far this year are LF (x27), 1B (x22), 3B (x17).

That's what I've been wondering.  Not from a PED standpoint, but from a "are Midwest League/Southern League pitchers this bad" causing us irrational exuberance standpoint.

Isn't the Southern League for sure playing with a different ball than everyone else? I remember in years past complaining about the poor offensive numbers in the Southern League and now all of a sudden there has been a surge in offensive numbers. That's not taking anything away from what the guys in Biloxi have done this year but there's probably something to it.

nothing is "for sure" as far as I have seen, correct me if I'm wrong or if someone knows more.

BUt the suspicion is that offensive numbers are up across multiple leagues, and the southern league which was an offensive desert in 2022-2024 (especially the tacked ball 2023 first half), is now exploding.  So highly likely something with the baseball in that league, and possibly others as well.

It's the ball. There's a reason ISO rates have exploded in AA and below this year while it's remained stagnant at AAA.

If that’s the case, how should we interpret the home run numbers for Burke, Fischer, and Ragsdale?

My guess is slightly inflated with all of them. Ragsdale the most of three I'd guess. He had quite a few in A+ where the ball was like 96-97 EV to the opposite field gap and just kept carrying for a HR.

The Southern League HR/PA last year was 0.018. This year, it is 0.03, about 1.75 times easier to hit a home run. ISO is up about 1.5x this year. 

Burke is a good example since he was in the league both years. His 0.07 HR/PA last year was 4x league average and ISO 2.5x league average. This year his home run rate is only 2.5x league average and ISO 2x league average. Fischer and Ragsdale are both about the same (though not accounting for sample size which is fairly low for both of them).
